stl4life85: Hey Gordo do you think the Cards would be a high bidder for Cuban defector Dayan Viciedo if he becomes a free agent.
Jeff Gordon: I'd run that one past Joe Strauss . . .
Bill: Hey Jeff, what's your take on Barrett Jackman being being retained, at a costly contract no less? Don't you feel he was someone that could of been replaced from one of our defenseman within the organization? There's no doubt the Blues defense was overrated 2 years ago. Backman is gone, Brewer is still an enigma, Mckee doesn't log a lot of minutes. To me Jackman is overrated and I would of liked the Blues to move on in another direction, and saving the money wouldn't of hurt either.
Jeff Gordon: Many fans protested Jackman's retention at the expense of Bryce Salvador. Also, Polak could be that type of player. Also, McKee is still under contract, and that is a LOT to invest in offensive limited D.
Bill: Hey Jeff, what's your explanation/analysis on how the Red Wings suffocated the Penguins offense? I got to watch 3 of the games and I'm mystified at how they just stoned them. Was it great positional play / coaching strategy? It's like everytime a Penguin tried to do something a Red Wing was right there in there tracks. There's no question that Detroit deserved to be champs.
Jeff Gordon: It's tactics, determination AND, the big AND, team speed. Fast up front, mobile in back.
Tim: If Yadi is sidelined for an extended period of time, do you see Bryan Anderson making an appearance for the big league club? He is hitting .320 at Memphis after all. Also, do you think I could get a bulk mail rate if I sent a get well card to all the ailing Cardinals?
Jeff Gordon: Good line about the bulk mail. We'll see Anderson -- I just don't know if now is the time. We'll see. But his bat will get him to the bigs.
Chris: Gordo,
I really enjoy these live chats and you're doing a great job on KFNS, keep up the good work!
A couple of quick Blues questions:
1. It seems Oshie will make the squad barring a horrible camp, is Bergland in the same boat? I read he put on like 15 pounds and arrived in STL two weeks early on his own dime. He is showing commitment to this team and as I recall had a great camp last year. Will he be our #2 center this year?
2. Last year Perron had a great camp and made the team out of nowhere. Is there anybody this year that can muscle their way onto the team with a great camp? Any sleepers we should watch for?
Thanks bro, keep up the good work
Jeff Gordon: Eller could stand out -- but the team could still send him back to Sweden to play against men. The Blues didn't want Perron to waste a year in junior hockey. A guy I've want to see before Russia calls him home is Nikolai Lemtyugov, who finished well at Peoria.
Berglund may need time to adapt to the North American game, but he will play here in the STL. He did fine against older players in Sweden.
