Matt: Hi Jeff,

Are the Rams concerned at all about depth at both safety spots? If they are consider if OJ or Chavous go down, our defense is in serious trouble. So why did they not pick at least a reserve in the draft? Are they waiting for a more viable veteran option at the positions? Thanks
Jeff Gordon: I'm not sold on Carter, but he has been around. Bartell can play safety. The Rams have depth, just not awesome depth.

acegracey: Would the redbirds have any interest in Mahay of the royals,he's having a stellar year and would be much cheaper than fuentes, maybe in a guillen pa
ckage? The royals are in a virtual rebuild mode every year, and maybe without giving our "A" type prospects a deal could be had, thoughts?
Jeff Gordon: Mahay seems like a solid trade target. That should be doable.

Arturo: realistically what are the chances of shanny as a blue?Id love to see him back. however financially is it possible? does that mean one of the young scorer will lose a spot or a guy like jenssen or king?
Jeff Gordon: I don't see the team adding Shanny, but finding him a slot wouldn't be tough if the team did make the move. There is no guarantee that Oshie and Berglund will help right away, or that everybody will stay healthy.

Kyle: Hey Gordo...

Now that the NHL free agency period has died down with the most prominent names locking up with new or current teams there is however a few talented players still out there looking for a job come October. I'd assume many of which would like to shore up their playing future sooner rather than later over the next few weeks. Do you have any insight, intuition, or gut feelings that the Blues will add anyone else from the unsigned UFA pool (or RFA pool for that matter) of players that could be very cost-effective while arguably making the team that much more ready to compete this season? Should they or is this pretty much the lineup fans are going to get for 08-09?

Thanks for the question.
Jeff Gordon: We've talked about Shanny, which would be a nice PR move, but I don't see a big move.

Tom Tulsa: An Oakland sportswriter is proposing the As send Mark Ellis, Bobby Crosby, Justin Duchscherer, Alan Embree, and Huston Street to the Cards for Rasmus. He thinks the As are going to trade them anyway and thinks they should put together a blockbuster that would help the Cards now and As later. What do you think?
Jeff Gordon: All that for Rasmus? A couple of those guys could help, for sure, but it's not like this team needs five new players.

Again, why would the Cards trade a potential 10-year starter in center field, who adds power and potential lead-off presence?
