Ron: I was searching for high school football scores from last night (9/11/09), specifically francis howell central. Any word on the final score?
Jeff Gordon: According to Howell Central's page in our prep sports section here at STLToday, they beat Troy 41-28.
Matt: Would you say that Jair Jurrjens is better than any of the pitchers on Philly, L.A. and Colorado? I definitely don't want to see anyone like him in the postseason.
Jeff Gordon: He certainly throttled the Cards, but Lee and Hamels are capable of pitching shutdown game games for Philly.
Matt: Some people in the blogosphere are beginning to worry that the Cards have piqued too early. I personally think they are just a great team because of their additions and could actually get better, but history does show us examples of teams piquing too early. What is your opinion on this matter?
Jeff Gordon: When a team gets 11 games up, it is hard to keep an edge. The letdown could be coming at the right time, since it will allow TLR to lean on the team a bit harder as the postseason nears. This team needs to clinch the division, take a take day or two off and then get after it.
Lawarence Marmie: Alright Gordo, I've been saying all preseason that Ken Fajole looks like the illegitimate lovechild of Jim Haslett and lovie smith with the passive defensive scheme he runs and unwillingness to bring heat, but you told me that you thought it was just him not wanting to show his hand in the preseason. Now that the regular season has begun and he trotted out the same boring, predictable defense out there that he has been all preseason, can you tell that I was once again correct or do we have to wait for the hapless Redskins to put on an offensive clinic against us before you give me my props?
Jeff Gordon: I saw a defense take three balls away early, force Seattle to settle for a field goal (only to see the special teams screw up) and then open the second half with another stop. The lack of offensive response and the accumulation of injuries that occurred finally caught up with the Rams.
Lawarence Marmie: Are we still going to talk about how we love Richie Incognito's passion and fire or can we just call a spade a spade and cut him already?
Jeff Gordon: It'll be interesting to see what Spags does here. Does he bench him, as he did during the game? Or does he let him go? Interesting decision for Spags.
