Paul II: Why isn't Colby Rasmus coming up this September? If for nothing else, wouldn't the exposure playing at the Big League level be an advantage for him next year?

Paul II
Jeff Gordon: In retrospect, given all the injuries here, it would have been nice to see him. But he had to overcome his own injuries and the club didn't want to start his clock toward free agency unless he would play a lot. At the end of August, that seemed unlikely. Also, Tony felt strongly that Colby didn't earn the promotion with his play. But Arizona promoted a guy out of the rookie league because he is a top prospect.

Tackleberry: When the Cards are making their list and checking it twice this winter can they add to the need category: Veteran bat that doesn't wilt versus lefties? I am so sick of watching this club get dominated by left-handed pitching. In fact, they need to identify a couple guys that can be used to counter left-handers. Let '08 be the last season of the built-in excuse of "we don't hit lefties well."
Jeff Gordon: Here, here. I like what Mather would add to the bench, but good bats at SS and 2B could help address this issue. This group has too many lefties in the OF.

Jayman: Gordo Ive seen alot prospect talk about Cards minor leagers, but one they never talk about is PJ Walters...he has 122k in 122 innings and he's only 23 years old, whats the deal.
Jeff Gordon: Junkballer! Slow, slower and slowest. But he knows what he is doing, so he could reach the bigs.

tim: With Pujols possibly getting surgery soon do you see the Cards possibly going back after Holliday? I know hes costly but he would deffinitly keep our offense going long enough to keep us in it and then when Pujols gets back our offense would be deadly.
Jeff Gordon: I don't see the large investment in an outfielder with so many other needs -- relief pitching, starting pitching, SS, 2B. The Cards have a ton of OFs, including Wallace (if he can play put there).

tim: Do you think Carpenter will ever be the same? I'll be honest I just dont see it hes basically missed 2 years and is 33 but id be more thatn happy to be told wrong.
Jeff Gordon: Good question. There aren't a lot of miles on that arm, relatively speaking, but the assortment of injuries is a huge concern.
