Darrius: Do you think the Rams will sign OT Kenyatta Walker and WR Antonio Bryant to help the "O" ? And the Rams are weak up the middle Defensively. Will they switch Witherspoon back to WOLB and sit SS Chavous infavor of Tod Johnson ?
Jeff Gordon: Anybody signed to help the offense now wouldn't play for weeks, due to their lack of knowledge in this scheme. I see the Rams simply plugging Incognito back into the line to replace Setterstrom and moving forward. The WR situation IS interesting, though, because Bennett is playing hurt, Hall gives you very little and Looker gives you nothing at at all. As for Chavous . . . well, he hasn't exactly been Braveheart while filling the gaps. I'm not sure Johnson is more than a great special teams guy, but Jim Haslett needs to take a look at that. At MLB, the choices now are Witherspoon, Draft or Culberson. Will may still be the best option there for the rest of the year.
Jeremy: It seems as if a head coach is customarily given three years to either win or crash and burn in the NFL, but with the way the Rams are regressing, can Linehan expect the ownership to give him another year?
If they decide to replace him, will Haslett get a shot?
Thanks!
Jeff Gordon: Interesting scenario, isn'it it? Linehan had no previous head coaching experience, so his leash may not be as long. With Haslett in the house -- offering a totally different style of coaching, potentially -- John Shaw and Jay Zygmunt will have to at least think about the situation. This regime is 8-11 and heading in the wrong direction.
justin damavrick: I think the Rams should fire Scott Linehan and hire a coach like Marty Schottenheimer that can turn this organization around in the right direction...do you think that this can be a possibility if Linehan has a losing season?
Jeff Gordon: Is this season blows up -- and it's well on the way to that - than anything is possible. The Rams would need to do something big to make the franchise attractive to free agents
Frank BB,Ca: Hey Jeff,
I am so tired of coach L's excuses !!! Dont you think it is time for the offensive Coordinator to open the gates ? If he cant do it then get rid of him, dont you think?
Frank BB/Ca
Jeff Gordon: This offense must find ways to get back on the attack. There is just too much talent here to edge the ball down the field. Right now teams look forward to facing this offense.
Luke in Fort Worth: Jeff,
What is up with this team? How are they flat out unable to score points? I find it humorous how many people that submit questions to you complain about the defense. The Rams start is not at all the fault of the defense, they are doing what they were expected to do. This is totally the fault of the offense. This offense is supposed to score at least 24 points a game with the players that they have.
Did the Rams by any chance steal a playbook from a Big 10 school like Wisconsin or Iowa? Those plays yesterday were so boring to watch; Jackson of guard/tackle to the left and right - then some throw it across the field to a wide receiver and they are supposed to run for their life. Has that play worked for more than 5 yards all year?
Living in Fort Worth for the past 5 years I rarely get to see the Rams play live, but I do watch them on TV every week. I was very happy that they were playing in Dallas this year, as that would be one of the few times I would actually get to watch them live. So, I got my tickets the day that they went on sale. I'm almost dreading going to the game down here on Sunday.
p.s. If you are making the trip down here for the game over the weekend be sure to go get some Mexican food in the Fort Worth Stockyards at Joe T. Garcia's - guaranteed to be the best Mexican you will ever have. It'll make your trip worth it regardless of how bad the game is.
Jeff Gordon: I agree with you about the offense and Joe T's -- been there many, many times. With the money invested in the offense, this team needs to play with a significant lead more often. In that scenario, this defense would be fine. The defense has been good enough to win at least two of the games with some offensive help.
