David Carriger: Jeff , set the odds on Marshall returning to the organization.
Jeff Gordon: That depends on whether Chip stays on as owner. Faulk has family ties to this group.
R. Palen: Thanks for all that you do!
If you could add one player to the Rams to make an immediate difference who would it be? (Jackie Slater is not available)
Thanks,
Dan
Springfield, MO
Jeff Gordon: Now? Off the street? I don't think such a player exists.
lynyrd: Jeff, Thanks for the chat, as always it's much appreciated and looked forward to.
I think first and foremost we hire Scott Pioli, the player personnel director for the Patriots, at any cost. Notice I didn't say the word SHOULD. I don't care if we have to back up a Brink's truck to his driveway, HIRE HIM.
This move alone would give us instant credibility around the league and show any prospective future head coach (Cowher) that we mean business. Pioli's MO is to build a TEAM, not to simply collect individual talent, something that's been desperately lacking in this organization for years.
Three Super Bowl Championships, four conference titles, and six division titles in seven years says it all.
What do you think Jeff?
Jeff Gordon: Why would he come here? Why leave the Patriots for a franchise that could be for sale?
davec727: Hey Jeff - that hit on Looker that caused the fumble, near the end of the game. From where we were sitting in the stadium (and on the replays they showed on the board), it really looked like one of the violent helmet-to-helmet hits that the NFL is trying to protect against. Do you think there should have been a penalty on the play, or that the league might take some action? Football is a violent sport, but it sure looked unnecessary to me.
Jeff Gordon: Our view in the press box was that the league might take a look at this. It was nasty.
Petey123: Jeff, you think Chip will own the rams for the 2009 season? Also, you think the rams will be in St. Louis after the 2015 season? Thanks
Jeff Gordon: Maybe to both. Chip could sell if the right deal is there for everybody's benefit. But it's not like he hates owning the team.
Ownership will dictate the team's future. If the next owner has Missouri ties, that would go a long way to getting the right stadium deal for the future.
