virginiatom: Note to Saunders. Take the fake pass and handoff to Jackson out of the playbook, and while you're at it, the lateral pass to Minor. Doesn't work either and every one knows they are coming. You have Avery, Holt, Burton, and Jackson running down field. Please get them the ball.
Jeff Gordon: Fair 'nuff. The Redskins were sitting on a lot of the Rams game plan Sunday.

larrylangley: Hi Gordo
!st time ? here. What was with the different # and mohawk hair cut on Chase Daniel this weekend?
Jeff Gordon: The senior are taking turns wearing No. 25 to honor late teammate Aaron Rogers, who collapsed during a preseason workout in 2005 and died. The mohawk . . . that was just Chase being Chase, trying to keep everybody loose.

HEG: Gordo it seems Mizzou fell right into Ok. St. game plan-the plan for Ok. St. seemed to work perfectly to win the game; where Mizzou's plan to me seemed to focus on not losing; there is a difference in the two- Ex.- Mizzou on the opening drive got to about the half yard line & chose to go for field goal instead of going on 4th down for T.D.- all the previous games they would not hesitated to have gone on 4th down in this situation; to me this showed the Coach plan was not to lose instead of plan to win as discussed above; Mizzou's skilled positions players seemed to have a lackluster game; the defense played about the way expected but overall the offense to me let the team down- Ex.- bad judgements by QB, dropped passes, lack of running attack& it seemed to me Maclin let down on occassions in the game- overall Mizzou seemed to be conservative & not aggressive on offense as in the past- the only redemption would be to beat Texas this week-end & if this doesn't happen they could drop out of top 25. Re. the Rams; they did show some forms of life; we will wait & see if this carries over to next game. Agree or disagree on statements above?
Jeff Gordon: Agree on the first drive -- settling for a field goal gave OSU a huge lift. It showed a lack of confidence in the offense (the ball was inches from the goal) and defense (which would have OSU pinned if the play failed).

The offense did let down. Maclin was hobbled during the game, so don't single him out. The interception off of Alexander hurt. A couple of other balls could have been caught. But OSU was well-prepared to defend the spread.

virginiatom: In his first start, Green didn't light up the world, but with some practice and playing time to get the rust off, would he be better than Bulger at this point? Bulger is simply not the same. He wastes time outs at the most ridiculous times and with no concern at all, can't throw the ball long down field anymore even when he has time, doesn't see the field (yesterday two passes right into the hands of Redskin defenders that were dropped) and his demeanor is so sluggish and low key it seems to hold an offense back from being up tempo and crisp. Even his going to the huddle from the sideline on a new possession is a slow walk. He is being paid alot of money and has a responsibility as the quarterback to set the tone for this team, whether he likes that role or not. Its time that he does it, or he moves aside for somebody who will. After all, it doesn't say much when the offensive coordinator is dumbing down the play selection because of a lack of confidence in the abilities of his starting, veteran quarterback.
Jeff Gordon: Don't blame Bulger for the timeouts. His teammates were confused by some of the extra motion Saunders put in the game plan. But, yes, Bulger really needs to pick up the offensive tempo. If he doesn't, the team won't win many more.

therealdealankiel: Gordo,

Rickie Weeks has fallen out of favor up here in Milwaukee. Defense aside, he has some pop and speed...which could fit nicely into the 6 or 7 holes of our lineup. He had inconsistent success with the Brewers while being forced into the leadoff spot, but I think a change of scenery and philosophy could serve him well.

The Brewer's are looking for a cheap CF and a reliable defensive 2nd baseman. They also want more LH bats and a true leadoff hitter. Would Skip Schumaker and Adam Kennedy be a good starting point to get them to trade within the division? I certainly don't want to strengthen another team in the Central, but this may be an opportunity to get some power and speed at 2B, that doesn't include sending Rasmus and a top pitching prospect.

Felipe Lopez seems like he may have just been lightning in a bottle for TLR. One of those great second half additions that falters once he's given a big league contract (Ronnie Belliard).

Your thoughts?
Jeff Gordon: Lopez was better than Belliard here, but he is not a sure bet to excel in '09. He is not a bad fallback. Weeks is a guy who cold use a scenery change. He does have some tools and you have to love his power.

Tough to make deals in the division, though.
