Rich: Hey Gordo,
Based on Hall's less than stellar performance in the return game do you see Staley getting a shot as either the punt and/or kick returner this week?
Hall made some clutch catches yesterday, but he just wasn't getting it done in the return game.
Thanks for the chats.
Jeff Gordon: He had an explosive kickoff return negated by a penalty - so, no, he shouldn't lose that job to Stanley. He looked like his old self on that first kickoff and he never looked better as a receiver.
NAZRamFan: Gordo,
I'm assuming that if Mike Singletary does well enough the rest of the season for the Niners to want to retain him as head coach, they have met the provisions of the Rooney Rule and do not have to interview any other minority candidates. Correct?
Jeff Gordon: Well, yes.

Fancy if you will for a minute please, I think a 7-9 to 8-8 season is my prediction for a season. That puts in that 10-17 range in the draft all the more likely. Do you see the rams finally taken a linbacker My preference is James Laurinaitis in the first. In the second do a PR move but also making personel sense judgement by taken Chase Daniel or Chase Coffman in the second. My questions though all this are as follows.
1. Do you think James Laurinaitis is available in that 10-17 pick range
2. Would Chase Daniel warrent a 2 round pick as he his right now.
3. If Chase is picked would be in a good situation to learn from Trent Green and Bulger and learn until Bulgers contract runs out and take over.
4. Same question as 2 with Coffman and also would you see him as a instant production guy.
Thanks
Jeff Gordon: That linebacker could go higher than the 10 to 17 range, based on some of the early draft projections. Coffman is at least a second-round pick, if not higher. He would be an instant impact pick. His stock is climbing. Daniel's stock . . . not so much. He is likely a second-day guy, given his size and lack of drop-back experience. He still must prove he can gun the ball into the small windows of NFL defenses.
Rick R: I know that the Rams are playing better but don't you really think like I do that Arizona will be hard to beat because they can score points. The Rams still seem to struggle in that area and they will have to score a lot with Arizona's offense even in the dome?
Jeff Gordon: I like the Gridbirds to win this game, with Warner going nuts. The Rams will need a healthy Little, a healthy Carriker and a healthy Jackson to have a real chance to win this game and get back in the playoff race.
DisCard: If the Cards are fortunate enough (which I doubt) to get Fuentes, he would close. Don't they still need a situational lefty for earlier in the game? Also doesn't getting a closer have to be the top personnel priority considering how many games the offense was good enough in to hand the bullpen the lead.
Secondly, why is everyone considering trading Ankiel? It seems to me he may yet take it to another level and though he lost some years, he's still young enough to be an impact player for a long time. I know you have to give value to get value, but I haven't heard any returning names as of yet worth a player of his current performance, let alone his potential.
Jeff Gordon: Ankiel is a year removed from free agency. Rasmus is a similar player -- better defensively, better on the basepaths, not as much power -- who years away from free agency. He is like having a free everyday outfielder. Hence the trade speculation. Maybe Ankiel will be a star, maybe he will just be a good player -- it's tough to define his future value (and price).
Here, Fuentes would either close or split the job with Perez. So, yes, the team will keep prowling for another lefty for earlier in the game.
