Larry: Jeff...in watching the Jets, the Falcons, and the Dolphins, all pathic teams last year, and now all very competitive and contending teams in 2008...In your option was the main cause for their quick turnaround compared to what the Rams did the off season? Thanks!
Jeff Gordon: Look at the coaching and front-office leadership. Also, look at the huge investments the Jets made in quality linemen. All three teams got better at QB, too, with Favre, Matt Ryan and Chad Pennington all providing upgrades.

Those teams provide examples of how turnaround can be achieved. Have a plan, sign and draft the right guys and get busy.

Larry: Jeff...what was the main reason for the Holliday trade now being off the radar? Thanks!
Jeff Gordon: The Rockies want an awful lot for a one-year rental.

wotownramsfan: dear jeff, i was at the game yesterday against the jets at the meadowlands and i've got a lot of problems with the way this team is run. First off my biggest problem is O.J. atogwe dancing with the cheerleaders when they are down 27-0 during a timeout. Also, does Torry Holt even care anymore? Coaches were trying to talk to him and he doesn't even listen anymore. Get rid of them all including haslett he must go as well. The only player who looks like they care every play is Chris Long. Get rid of Jackson, Bulger,Holt, Barron, basically everyone what a disgrace they are to players who make millions of dollars to play football.
Jeff Gordon: Get rid of "basically everyone" and you're looking at 0-16 next season. And players like Jackson, in particular, would star elsewhere. In the cap system, you can't fire a team. You have coach up the team and turn it over in stages.

People need to cut Atogwe some slack. He's a nice player. The game was over before it started.

NAZRamFan: Gordo,

Fortunately I was spared any live TV of yesterday's Rams game, but the writeups here and elsewhere do a good job of describing the horror. My question concerns on-the-field leadership, as in do the Rams have any? Just who are the Ram players who get angry and show emotion on the field and on the bench during debacles like this? Who are the Ram players who get in the face of their teammates and challenge them to pick up their play? Clearly Bulger isn't a fiery, emotional leader, so who picks up his slack?

Thanks as always for your response.
Jeff Gordon: That game was over before it started. Guys can stomp around and put on an angry act, but the team needs real on-field leaadership -- not sideline posturing. We'll see how many (if any) leaders this team has during the next seven weeks.

Rich: Good afternoon Gordo,

After yesterday's debacle in the Meadowlands, do you see Haslett making major changes to the starting line-ups?

Trent Green didn't exactly light up the scoreboard, but the offense appeared to respond better under his hand, then Bulgers.

Holt was been a non-factor for several games running and with Looker healthy enough to be on the field, I wouldn't be surprised if Holt took a tumble down the depth chart.

As for that pathetic excuse of a LB corp, can Vorba, Stills, and Chamberlain really do a worse job then the guys they are backing up?

Thanks again for these chats.
Jeff Gordon: Stills is just a special teams guy, albeit a great one. Vobora saw some action Sunday and didn't make a big mark. What I remember of Chamberlain from the preseason was not especially encouraging. But, yes, there may be some lineup changes as Haslett tries to get the attention of his plays.
