alex: This regards our idiotic front office......When the Jake Peavy rumor first broke out, we heard the cards might be a front runner...wrong! A few days ago we heard the cards are the front runner for Matt Holliday...WRONG! After promises front MO and Dewitt of a "creative and promising offseason" I've come to wonder will we get that impact player theyve been talking about? I know a lot rests on what happens with Chris Carpenter within the next few weeks, but in all reality have you heard any LEGIT rumors?
Jeff Gordon: Rumors are rumors. I know what the Cards plan is and what the team will give up to get certain commodities. If there is a fit, Mo will make deals -- like he did for Glaus, like he did to move Edmonds, like he did to get Lohse signed . . . so on and so forth.

Again, the free agent marketplace isn't open yet.

SoundwaveSTL: Gordon

You said better QB play, which QB would you recommend to start this Sunday? I say let the 3rd stinger in and throw something and lets see what happens..cant possibly get any worse right? I'm willing to have them try anything at this point.

Thanks as always

Jeff Gordon: I'm not sure Berlin is the answer, but some more mobility would help.

Brewer_Jackman_Exposed: Jeff, Hedman or Tavares.....who do you pick if the Blues win the draft lottery?

Tavares will sell more tickets and give JD another year to sell fans on the future but since Brewer is untradeable Hedman may be the smarter choice long term.

Also, tell JD to fire AM and sell, sell, SELL!!!
Jeff Gordon: Too soon to sell. As for the next draft, I'd still go with Tavares.

Griff21: I know this isnt going to be popular but... What about Izzy? As a Card his days are probably over.I'm sure a player with his credentials will get a look somewhere. i hope the best for the guy, & would like to see him pitch again & reach ( at least ) the 300 milestone. where might he end up?
Jeff Gordon: I can see bringing him back in the old Percival role, but not to close.

therealdealankiel: Solid deal for Billy Beane...adds an MVP bat, if they go on a run, great. If they falter, he's mid-season trade bait, and at the very worst he takes a couple draft picks when he signs elsewhere.

It's as if Dan O'Dowd would rather do any deal than take Mo's criticism that he leaked names...
Jeff Gordon: Beane is a great GM . . . but he has never had a parade. He should have lots of good young players to move, having dumped so many high-end guys over the years.
