Griff21: how about
Starter...paul byrd, always one of my favorites, Randy Johnson( love to have him) and what ever happened to john lieber?

Short... Adam Everett/ craig counsell platoon. since we are looking for low hanging fruit does Omar Vizquel have any value either?

LHP Glendon Rusch?
Jeff Gordon: Liebs went to the Cubs and took a swing role last year, which surprised me. Byrd knows how to pitch, so he could be a good fit if he is still throwing well enough.

At short, the Cards can do better than that.

Griff21: When were the votes for MVP cast?
Jeff Gordon: Before the playoffs.

the gazelle: Don't you think this is the year Mizzou could break through and make a run in March? They've got a lot of young talent, and it looks like Anderson is finally making some headway with his players. Also, a lot of last year's problems are off the team now. I've even heard they are close to selling out their season tickets.
Jeff Gordon: I like the depth up front, which is a change from last year. And Lyons and Carroll can do some damage against decent teams. But will the guards settle in? Will Matt hit the 3s? We'll see.

I see sixth or seventh, NIT possibly. There is a chance to break out if one of those kids take off in the backcourt.

The Prairie View game was interesting, although it's too early to take too much for that.

Nitchke: Gordo:

First, you are the only sportswriter in this city that I respect when it comes to football. In a previous response today you acknowledged that "this team has some talent." My point here is that an overwhelming percentage of the fans and all of the other sportswriters in this city, have thrown up their hands and, I am paraphrasing, resort to the saying "I don't know where you begin." This type of kneejerk reaction shows such a lack of understanding of football and the dynamics of a successful football team. If we had absolutely no talent, please explain to me our defensive performances against Washington, against Dallas and against New England. I challenge anyone to go back to those games and tell that we didn't compete defensively on a high level. The idea of no defensive talent is bunk. These players simply do not believe. They are not motivated. They are not inspired. I believe, with a great deal of confidence, I know what I would do about it. But I want to hear from you first. So, I would love to hear from you whether you agree with my above conclusions and what you would do about it.
Jeff Gordon: It's easy to just say there is no talent. That is a cop out for the guys there and the coaches. They just have to be better. Losing Pace and Incognito were tough blows, but now the Rams need to see why they drafted Greco and Schuening. Next guy step up and play.

David: Any guesses on MU's potential draftees? Macklin, Coffman, Daniel, Moore, etc. Can the kicker, Wolfert, get drafted? He has ridiculous numbers in terms of accuracy, but does he have the leg? Can Macklin be a Tim Brown type or is he Desmond Howard?
Jeff Gordon: Jeff will be in camp somewhere. I think. Great leg. Not sure about drafting. Maclin and Coffman will go late first, early second. Really like Maclin. Moore is well-liked, could be one of the first at his position to go.

So Pro Day at Mizzou would be interesting.
