9elbirdos: Gordo,
I was looking at the Mizzou Tigers schedule for the next few years. They have all kinds of openings in their non-conference can we expect to see some better teams fill these openings.Like from the ACC,SEC,PAC10. I'm not talking the Florida's or Georgia's, More like the Kentucky's, Wake Forest, Syracuse or Stanford teams like these.
Jeff Gordon: Now that Mizzou has perennial bowl ambitions, don't expect Mike Alden to schedule ambitiously in the non-conference slate. The Big 12 is deep and getting deeper with A&M and Nebraska bouncing back, Snyder returning to K-State and Oklahoma State likely to stick around with Pickens bankrolling the Cowboys.
Given the difficulty of the conference schedule -- and the championship game hurdle that looms for the Big 12 North winner -- there is enough good football on the schedule. Mizzou got dissed last despite playing a much tougher schedule than KU, so where is the incentive to schedule up?
Also, the Tigers have some rebuilding to do post-Chase.
9elbirdos: Gordo,
Once again the Mizzou's Daniel CHOKES in a big game throwing bad interceptions. I don't know what this does for him about playing on Sunday's now. The defense couldn't step up so I don't want anybody complaining about what Bowl Mizzou goes to. All they had to do was win. They will get destroyed by who ever they play in the big 12 championship game.
Jeff Gordon: Yes, OU will kill the Tigers. That defense can't stop anybody. The Sooners will score at will.
Daniel wasn't his best in the big games, that's for sure. But his pro stock was never that great. There are at least five better NFL quarterback prospects in the Big 12 alone.
9elbirdos: Gordo,
Is there helping coming next year for the defense or do they replace the defensive cordinater. Right know it is just plain defensive to watch.
Jeff Gordon: Toledo had defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus on its list of potential head coaching candidates, so there could be a change there. Gary Pinkel needs to take a long look at his D.
That group gets to work against a great spread offense every day. Why can't it defend such defenses better?
DisCard: I am surprised the exit of Keith Mitchell from the Cards' organization received no coverage in the STL media. A couple of the system's hotter prospects credit him with having a major impact on improving their game.
Jeff Gordon: I hadn't seen that. Unfortunately, there is lots of turnover from year to year in the minor league coaching ranks. The Cards have really upgraded their farm system in recent years and the minor league managers, hitting instructors and pitching coaches deserve much credit.
Frank Wild: Jeff
With the election of the two slates of veterans coming up for the Baseball Hall of Fame who do you feel is worthy or has an honest chance to make it.I feel the pre 1950 era has been picked clean. It would be nice to get Vern Stephens in and have someone in the hall with a Browns' cap but I don't see his numbers based on todays standards being hall worthy. In terms of the modern slate I really would like to see Jim Kaat make it. Is there anyone with more gold gloves then him in the hall? I know there is a sentimental push for Santo as well. Who do you feel should make it and who would you put your money on?
Jeff Gordon: The candidates are Joe Torre, Ron Santo, Gil Hodges, Dick Allen, Jim Kaat, Luis Tiant, Tony Oliva, Al Oliver, Vada Pinson and Maury Wills.
Torre makes it eventually, given his managerial numbers and very good playing numbers. The other guys I like are Kaat and Oliva. Everybody loves Santo, so, yes, he ought to get some support as well.
But I can't make an intelligent. (I know, I know, when has that stopped me before . . .)
