Griff21: any word on Manny ? we NEED him back
Jeff Gordon: We'll see where he is head is (literally) this week.
Entreri10: Hey Jeff,
Okay lets say hypothetically, the rams ownership problems gets solved one way or another if your the new team prez/gm who are your top 3 choices for HC that can turn this team around..(no choosing just one like rex ryan lol) , also who do you think will be coaching this team next year realistically? thanks for your time
-Dennis
Jeff Gordon: Realistically, Ryan is your best option. He is ready to make the jump, he has family ties here and he could command the group.
Steve Spagnuolo will be a popular candidate. Brian Billick seems like a fit for Detroit and Jim Fassel is lobbying for the Oakland job. Marty Schottenheimer would be a natural fit to return to Cleveland, if Cowher is still serious about staying in the broadcast booth.
Ken, a PSL holder from the beginning.: I am totally in disbelief that John Shaw is going to have a role in picking the next coach. If this happens and unless the gods of pure chance smile on the RAMS the only hope to save the franchise for St. Louis is new ownership. Otherwise the RAMS are gone by 2015. This city will not support this incompetence.
The only hope is turn this franchise over to true football managers and get out of their way. John Shaw is incompetent; Zygmut is incompetent.
So what is really going on? Who is in charge? Why after this disastrous season do I even have to ask this question? Rosenbloooms, the Honey moon is over. Make changes or be prepared to sale or move.
I have had enough of this nonsense.
Jeff Gordon: Right now there is a huge vacuum at the top of the organization. And you have to wonder if it will remain there, too, as Chip decides to give Devaney more to do, give the next coach power and NOT install somebody strong at the Shaw/Zygmunt level.
Griff21: so heres my christmas wish list
Randy Johnson
Paul byrd
Trevor Hoffman
Miles
Penny
Fills all our needs. Penny would be a long shot, clement type signing.
Doable? practical?
Jeff Gordon: I'd hate to see Miles leave, needlessly, because the Cards have to pay off the final year of Kennedy's contract. I don't mind Ryan in that role, but still . . .
Hoffman seems like to stay on the West Coast, possibly back with the Padres. Penny would have to sign an incentive-laden one year deal, given his ongoing shoulder issues. Otherwise, let somebody else take that gamble.
Griff21: why is Winchester still on the same team? what upside does he have?
Jeff Gordon: He is a solid fill-in, bringing a pretty robust game. He has fit in pretty well, actually. But it's hard to win with McDonald, Karyia and Oshie out at the same time.
