9elbirdos: Gordo,

I was looking at the Cardinal's minor league system we have no 1b. In the system if Pujols gets hurt. What happens if that should happen i.e. his (elbow) we have Duncan and Mather. Are you kiddin me!!!!!!!!
Jeff Gordon: And Brett Wallace, who is the best pure hitting prospect in the system. He will play some third base and outfield next season, but it's easy to see first base as his natural position.

DisCard: As I see the Fuentes thing, it makes no sense to bid against yourself, regardless of how bad the need is. I’m not certain he signs now even if he were offered his $33 million. Once you put the price out there it’s hard to come down.

The significant question is whether the Cards sign him when the bidding gets real world. I think Big Tex ends up back with the Angels and it seems they won’t pay the $33 million once that deal goes down. The Brewers might make a pitch to save face with their fans. Aside from that the Cards should control the auction. What does your experience tell you? Will they pay the price to sign Fuentes or will the in-season pronouncements just end up as empty rhetoric?
Jeff Gordon: If the Angels are really out of the Teixeira Sweepstakes -- and if they are not just yanking Scott Boras' chain -- then Anaheim will have the dough to win the Fuentes bidding. Brian has said Anaheim is his first choice, so I wouldn't be surprised to see this deal go down sooner than later.

donsods: Jeff--For the second week, the Rams have used a "Wildcat" formation. Post-Dispatch articles put it on italics, but don't explain what it is. Since the Rams are never on TV anymore, could you please explain to us what a "Wildcat" formation actually is?
Jeff Gordon: The quarterback lines up as a receiver and the running back takes the direct snap. Typically the Rams run out of this formation with Jackson, but he has handed the ball to Dane Looker on an end around -- and then Looker has thrown the ball to Bulger.

Good times!

ramfanoncapecod: hi jeff all i have to say was 4th and 3 and bulger throws it deep why cant we play the clock once in a while?
Jeff Gordon: They tried that, too, in the second half -- and their ground game got stuffed. In the end, whatever Al Saunders called didn't work.

DBQIA: If you needed a tight end, would you draft Coffman. I have heard him compared to Klop, a big wide receiver that will never be a very good blocker.
Jeff Gordon: He has blocked pretty good in space, which is how Mizzou uses the tight end. Coffman will be an explosive weapon in the passing game for whatever team he goes to.

Don't compare him to the Klop. Don't do that to the kid.
