Griff21: with the frosty FA market & prices dropping, are there some new FA targets for the cards?
Jeff Gordon: Fuentes, for instance, but see his three-year value drop by $12 million. If that's true, that changes a lot. Wolf could come down as well, if the Mets don't buck up. I don't see the Cards expanding their FA search outside of pitching -- and we know all the names on that front.

mightymike105: What's up Gordo,

I know that this coaching staff is (should be) about done. If it was up to you, what type of new coach would u bring in to help steer this ship away from anymore iceburgs? Would u go with retreads or would u look for new blood? Thanks and Happy Holidays.
Jeff Gordon: I'd hire a top coordinator from a winning program and ask him to replicate that atmosphere as best as he can. In a new atmosphere, a lot of these current guys would play a LOT better.

Nathan Higdon: What are you personal thoughts on Carpenter. Do you think he can pitch 190 plus innings this year. When will the Cardinals front office know of his status?
Jeff Gordon: The Cards will know his status on a day to day basis. If he is pitching that day, then he is pitching. Any other projection is just a guess, given his extensive history of physical problems. The Cards could be foolish to count on 190 innings from him. Whatever he does this year is a bonus.

virginiatom: With the season coming to a close, how would you grade the Rams rookie class of 2008?
Jeff Gordon: About a B+. Avery and Burton have talent, but they must learn their craft. Long is fine. Greco looks fine. The young LBs are at least OK on special teams. Don't know about Schuening yet.

LA Rams Fan: How much do you think it will cost the Rams to retain Bartell? Does it make sense to franchise him at what could be close to $10 mil?
Jeff Gordon: Paying him the average of the top NFL CBs would be costly. Same for Atogwe, should the Rams go that route. I like both players, but I'm not sure they are worth elite dollars.
