Ramswin: Hey Jim,
Assuming we finally get a true MIKE LB this offseason, do think that either Witherspoon or Pisa can play the SAM position?
Thanks,
Luke
Jim Thomas: Good question. Obviously, neither has the ideal size to play the position. But with the right middle linebacker, I think it might be possible.
Antony: Jim,
I was hoping to see a better game out of the rams, but that is unlikely. In this league that gets better in a hurry like the Dolphins, what are the chances that the Rams could have such a turnaround? That would mean that the front office clowns have to be replaced. But do you see that as a possibility for the Rams and is there a GM/HC out there that might be able to orchestrate that turnaround.
Jim Thomas: Sure, it's possible. The Rams did it in '98 and '99, or did you forget?
As for the magic name(s) as GM/HC, I really don't have one for you.
OCRich: I'm going to ask the question that has been on the mind of all Ram fans for the entire season.
Will we ever see the gold pants this year?
(Sorry...too exasperated to ask a serious football question this week.)
Jim Thomas: I'll try to find out.
Franklin: Oh Jim,
Among the current practice squad players, are any considered legit prospects for the future; in effect, rotation players, special teams players or even long, long-shot starting possibilities? Do you anticipate any tabbed for use this season?
Going deep down the roster,
Franklin!
Jim Thomas: The Rams do seem to be intrigued with Roach, the safety, but they've already promoted three practice squad players to the active roster over the course of the season (Stanley, Vobora, Bassey).
Rich: Good afternoon Jim,
Do you see the Rams clearing the roster of a lot of high priced veterans such as Pace, Little, Bulger, and Holt in the off-season?
I realize a team needs a steady core of vets; however, the Rams certainly haven't gotten their moneys worth out of the above four this past season.
Little and Pace can't stay healthy.
With the exception of a couple of games, Holt is been a non-factor in the offense.
And Bulger's woes have been well documented this season.
Thanks for these chats.
Jim Thomas: Now, a new coach could change everything but Bulger's not going anywhere. I don't think Little is either. I'm not so sure about Holt and Pace.
