John W. Cook: Gordo,
I am a Ram's season ticket holder and retired high school athletic director. I agree with your article about the Ram's swagger or lack of swagger. In my experience teams reflect their coach' personality. The Ram's front office could not handle Mike Martz and hired a coach that they could control. Thus we have the "Lineham Lambs" to watch.
Jeff Gordon: A lot went into Martz's departure, including Mad Mike's bizarre behavior. But the man did set an amazing standard for the offense. What we're seeing this season is stunningly bad. The Rams wanted stability from their new coach and a man capable of growing into the job quickly. That hasn't happened.
J.T.: What was with the white pants? They look like crap with the blue jerseys...
Jeff Gordon: Geez, fashion would be the least of my concerns in this game . . .
Tom: Greg Olsen's playcalling is perhaps the poorest in existence. Is it him or Linehan's fault?
Jeff Gordon: Linehan has a big hand in game-planning and play scripting, so both men are accountable for the failure on offense. And both have to be accountable for the terrible execution too.
Mike: They tried the Dante Hall thing and it isn't working. The season is over, let's get Hagans in the game so he can get some game experience returning. Hall is a waste of cap space.
Jeff Gordon: Hall did OK with the missed field goal, but otherwise he made no mark on the game. Hall is in the twilight of his career, so if this season doesn't turn on a dime, then, sure, using Hagans would make sense.
Mark "Eldrick" Ferry: How many of these "quick-out" passes is Olsen going to call before he realizes that they are not working. We're 3 weeks into the season and he's tried it about 10 of these and I think the best result has been 1 play that gained 5 yards- the rest haven't gained anything. On the other hand, given the O-line injuries I guess it doesn't matter what play they run....
Jeff Gordon: I'm with you on the quick passes to the flat. Teams are just sitting on those. Let's move on to something new, OK?
