Joe Stafford: Afternoon Jeff, Win, loose, or draw this week and the rest of the year I want Jim Haslett to be the head coach next year and beyond. He has completely changed the culture at Rams park, and for the first time in about 5 years I can hold my head up high as a Rams fan! I also support the reason for the Rooney rule, but To have Steelers Owner Dan Rooney go cry to the NFL about Haslett's contract is way over the top! Dan Rooney needs to Mind his own Friggin Business about the Rams!
The Rooney rule was a good start for Minority coaches, but it is the 21 century. We have both a Presidental and Vice Presidental candidate that are Minority's. I don't see the NFL stopping the Colts or Seahags future coaching changes so what's up with the Double Standard? Bryan Burwell has a great column about retaining Haslett! He supports Haslett as head coach next year, so giving a bogus interview to a Minority and then Hiring haslett is only a slap in the face to all Minoritys! Dan Rooney, why don't you take your opinion about Jim Haslett's contract and stick it in your Hersey Locker Dude! Thanks for letting me vent Jeff.
Jeff Gordon: The Rooney Rule is a good thing. It has done wonders for the coaching business, creating opportunities for advancement. The rule just needs to be adjusted to allow the retention of interim coaches without holding pointless interviews of coaches with no chance of getting the job.
Joe Stafford: Jeff, have you heard anything from Chip Rosenbloom on the Rams turnaround?
Jeff Gordon: Chip keeps a low profile. But his commitment to retain Haslett -- if he keeps winning -- looks like the right call.
Vegas Jay: Jeff:
When will the idea ever pop into Marc Bulger's empty head that it's far better to throw the ball away than to take another sack? Bulger's taken a lot of sacks in recent years, but in retrospect it's probably safe to say that AT LEAST one-third of them -- or more -- were his own damn fault! Is he just stupid, or what?
Jeff Gordon: Marc has to get rid of the ball, period. He has no ability to elude the rush and he is working with young WRs who are still learning how to free lance when the play breaks down.
Brent King: Very happy with the performance of the Rams yet again. My question is do the Rams need to seriously consider upgrading at QB next year? I know the Rams are on the hook for some mega dollars with Bulger, but he is playing scared and that is not good long term for the Rams. Stats aside, which were inflated by some 50/50 plays, the Rams need a more mobile QB or one that is willing to hang in the pocket a bit longer.
Jeff Gordon: When the Patriots turned up the heat, Bulger played tentatively. That is not good. So, yes, the Rams are overdue to find another young QB to bring along.
boleil: Kudos to the defense and wide recievers. Pittman was serviceable. However, Mark Bulger and his noodle, inaccurate arm....ugh. They were in this game in spite of him, not because of him. Make no mistake, Avery made those big pass plays coming back and adjusting to the ball (especially the second bomb). Bulger missed so many throws though. Made things hard on the rest of the offense. Also, the refs seemed a little flag happy. All in all though, a tough, gutsy effort from the team.
Jeff Gordon: Arm strength isn't the issue with Marc. Planting his feet and stepping into throws with confidence is the issue.
