St. Louis ArtWorks is throwing a party and art sale on Thursday to mark the organization's 15th year in operation.

The event runs from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Commerce Bank Education Center, 4651 Shaw Avenue. Have some birthday cake and ice cream and view art made by ArtWorks' young apprentices.

ArtWorks helps young artists ages 14 to 19 by pairing them with established artists to work as their apprentices. ArtWorks has provided opportunities for more than 1,900 young people since it was founded in 1995 by Grand Center Inc., the City of St. Louis and the Regional Arts Commission.
