Bess Moynihan will replace John Armstrong as managing director of HotCity Theatre, a troupe than emphasizes contemporary programming and new plays.
Moynihan, who is the troupe's production manager, will assume her new duties April 30, when Armstrong's resignation is effective. A well-known face in St. Louis theater circles, she has worked with a number of troupes around town in various capacities: as a performer, as a stage manager, and on technical crew.
Armstrong, who has been with HotCity for seven years, said he is resigning because it's time for a transition as he completes his MBA. He will become a staff advisor to the troupe In a statement, HotCity artistic director Marty Stanberry described Armstrong's resignation as "both a personal and professional loss ... He was invaluable in our transition into the Kranzberg Arts Center and instrumental in the establishment and growth of our New Play Development program ... He will be missed."
The current HotCity production, David Mamet's "Oleanna," runs through Feb. 4; the next show, "Rounding Third" by Richard Dresser, will play May 11-26. For more information, visit the website or call the box office (314-289-4063).
