The Sound of Music

Children are invited to audition for two productions in Stages St. Louis's 2012 season, "The Sound of Music" and Disney's "The Jungle Book."

All children's auditions will be at the Kirkwood Community Center, 111 South Geyer Road. Boys will audition for the roles of Fredrick and Kurt in "The Sound of Music" and for Mowgli in "The Jungle Book." Girls will audition for the roles of Louisa, Brigitta, Marta and Gretl in "The Sound of Music" and for Shanti in "The Jungle Book." The roles of Liesl and Rolf will be cast at adult auditions.

Boys should be 10 to 14 years old at the time of the audition and no taller than 5'4". Their voices must not have changed.

Girls should be 6 to 15 years old at the time of the auditions and no taller than 5'2".

Each child must come prepared to sing 16 bars of music. An accompanist will be provided. No pre-recorded music or a capella singing is allowed.

Open auditions will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, and on Saturday, Feb. 18. On Friday, sign-in will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and auditions from 3:30 to 7 p.m. On Saturday, sign-in is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and auditions from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Auditions will be conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Call-backs will be Sunday, February 19, at a time to be announced. All audition candidates must be available for call-backs.
