If you'd like to play lady book bountiful on April 23, giving away 20 new books to a worthy receiver, sign up for World Book Night.
It's the first time the night has been organized in the U.S. You don't have to buy the books; they will be given to you.
But to participate you need to apply by Feb. 1.
According to the website:
The goal is to give books to new readers, to encourage reading, to share your passion for a great book. The entire publishing, bookstore, library, author, printing, and paper community is behind this effort with donated services and time.
The books include "Little Bee," "The Hunger Games" and "Friday Night Lights."
Several local booksellers will be involved, including Pudd'nhead Books, Main Street Books and Left Bank Books. I'm not entirely clear how this Book Night will play out -- apparently you don't really have to give away the books at night.
But I'm sure it will all be clear by April. The first step is to sign up at worldbooknight.org
