Anne Lamott, who charmed readers years ago with her memoir of raising her son, Sam, will be coming to St. Louis with a new memoir about Sam's own baby.
Lamott kicks off this year's series of Read St. Louis events on March 24 at the St. Louis County Library headquarters.
There are great selections all around for the series, which encourages St. Louis area residents to read and discuss the same titles.
This year, in addition to the St. Louis and St. Louis county library systems, the St. Charles libraries will be involved.
The 2012 Read St. Louis selections are
Memoir: Anne Lamott, "Some Assembly Required: A Journal of My Son's First Son"
Teen Fiction: Antony John, "Thou Shalt Not Road Trip"
Nonfiction: Isabel Wilkerson, "The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration"
Children's Nonfiction: Deborah Hopkinson, "A Boy Called Dickens"; illustrated by John Hendrix
Fiction/New Voices: Teddy Wayne, "Kapitoil"
Distinguished Literary Achievement: Daniel Woodrell, "The Outlaw Album"
