Several popular writers of books for young readers and teenagers are coming to St. Louis soon.

If you don't already have your calendars marked, you might want to note these events. The first four are at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters:

Tamora Pierce and "Mastiff." No. 3 in the fantasy series the Legend of Beka Cooper, Pierce will be at the library at 7 p.m. Friday. See also Pudd'nhead Books for more details.

Ally Condie and "Crossed." The second book in the dystopian  "Matched" trilogy went on sale Tuesday and on Monday Condie will be at the library. "Crossed" was No. 38 Wednesday among Amazon best-sellers.

John Flanagan, known for his Ranger's Apprentice series, introduces "The Outcasts: Brotherband Chronicles #1" at 7 p.m. Nov. 10.

Gregory Maguire, who so smartly turned Oz on its head with "Wicked," finishes his series with "Out of Oz," which features Elphaba's granddaughter, Rain. He'll be at the library Nov. 15. The new book also went on sale Tuesday.

Matthew Cody and "Dead Gentlemen." Cody, who was raised in the St. Louis area, returns for the launch of his new novel featuring an 11-year-old street orphan who explores portals to other worlds. Nov. 9 at Pudd'nhead Books.

A celebrated illustrator of kids' books, Peter Sis, will be in St. Louis Nov. 16 promoting a book geared toward adults. "The Conference of the Birds" is an adaptation of a 12th-century Sufi poem. Sis will be at the St. Louis Public Library's Schlafly branch. He has won numerous awards, including Caldecott Honor medals for "Starry Messenger" and "The Wall."
