AAA clubs in several parts of the country this weekend will offer Tipsy Tow, a free tow service for New Year's revelers. But St. Louis is not one of the areas where the program is available.
"We can't afford to tie up our resources in case members need our help," said Mike Right, the auto club's St. Louis spokesman. "A few years ago, we had a sleet storm on New Year's Eve, and we had tons of calls from members who needed assistance. We're not going to be pulling drunks home for free."
People in St. Louis looking for a free ride home after New Year's Eve should enlist a designated driver. But for those willing to shell out a few bucks, there are plenty of options for a safe ride after a night of drinking. A few to consider this weekend:
• Call a cab. Laclede Cab, County Cab and ABC Cab are three in the area.
• Get picked up by the Scooter Guy. View prices and make a reservation online.
• Sign up with St. Louis Designated Driver. The member-only service drives you and your car home.
