The Old Rock House (1200 South Seventh Street) in St. Louis next month will start a new "Live & Local STL" series designed to highlight local beers and local bands.
Venue manager Brian McCormac says he noticed that the craft beer and live music scenes in St. Louis have a lot of similar fans, and "we are going to make an effort to promote both of these movements."
The free series kicks off Wednesday, Jan. 11, when the Old Rock House will put seasonal Schlafly Scotch Ale on draft to go with a performance by Celtic-music duo Joe Stickley and Sean Canan.
On Thursday, Feb. 2, the venue will pair Divided Sky Rye IPA from 4 Hands Brewing Co. (its new neighbor) with the bluegrass tunes of the Foggy Memory Boys.
A third installment, set for Wednesday, March 14, is TBA.
Doors to each Live & Local STL event open at 7 p.m. A representative from the brewery whose beer is being featured will conduct an informal chat and sampling at 8 p.m. After that, the band will play.
