El Borracho Taqueria will close Sunday night after three years in business at 2001 Locust Street, the business announced late Saturday.
The news came around 9 p.m. in a series of messages on the bar's Twitter and Facebook feeds:
• "To all our friends and regulars @elborrachostl... we would like to invite to one last Sunday Funday tomorrow night!"
• "One last night of fun and good times @elborrachostl as we say goodbye to 3 great years and a great staff! BJ Baker"
• "El Borracho is closing! Last night Sunday October 30th please came say goodbye after the parade"
"It's been a good run, but it's time to close it up," El Borracho's general manager B.J. Baker said in a tweet to me following the announcement.
Until late 2008, the space was a nightclub called Nectar. El Borracho is a joint venture of LoungeConcepts' Pete Ferretti and Buddy Coy of Pepper Lounge, Mandarin and Lumen, and Pat Shannon and Gary VanMatre Jr. of Mike Shannon's.
