So I get this note a little while ago from Ivy Magruder at Vin de Set:

Media is a funny thing.  I had been hearing for a while that people had stopped watching local news.  Boy was that ever wrong.  It seems like everyone and their mother saw the story last night that the building was struck by lightning.  The past 24 hours reminds me of the old game "Telephone".  (Information is not the same by the time that it goes around.)

I thought it might easiest to just spell out the facts:
  • The gentleman that was shocked is back to work today.
  • We are normally closed on Mondays so it did not affect business.
  • There have been extra people running around getting everything back together (computers, music, cleaning, etc.)
  • We opened normal time without missing a beat.

Just wanted to clear up any confusion or misinformation that was out there.

So I'm wondering where this came from, and I stumble on last night's report from KMOV-TV. I'm guessing this is part of the problem:

According to the St. Louis Fire Department, the 54-year-old plumber was working inside Vin De Set restaurant at 2017 Choteau.

He was using a rotary tool on a wall in the basement and his hand was touching a metal water pipe.

Except the restaurant is several floors up, not in the basement. Anyway, as Ivy notes, all is well.
