Diana Kennedy, "the Julia Child of Mexican Cooking," will visit St. Louis from April 16-22.

Public events include a dinner in her honor Thursday, April 19, and a book signing Friday, April 20.

The dinner will be held at Milagro Modern Mexican, 20 Allen Avenue in Webster Groves. Cost is $50 plus tax and tip and includes a complimentary tequila tasting, with a cash bar available with dinner. For reservations, call 314-962-4300.

The book signing, featuring Kennedy's latest work, the James Beard Award-winning "Oaxaca al Gusto," will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Salt of the Earth, 8150 Big Bend in Webster Groves. Admission is free. Call 314-963-1919 for more information.

Kennedy will also teach cooking classes -- which are now sold out -- at Kitchen Conservatory and participate in a question-and-answer session for chefs, food writers and other culinary professionals at 10 a.m. April 19 at Milagro. For more information, the contact number is again 314-962-4300.

Off The Menu has learned that one of the foremost experts on Mexican cuisine, Diana Kennedy, will make a return visit to St. Louis in April.

Kennedy has previously visited St. Louis to teach cooking classes. A schedule of activities for this visit is still pending.

Meanwhile, 2006 Bon Appétit Restaurateur of the Year Richard Sandoval will reprise his role as host of "Falling in Love ... in Five Courses," a benefit for the St. Louis Community College Foundation, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at the Four Seasons Hotel downtown. Sandoval was also host of the dinner last year.

Sandoval currently operates fifteen restaurants worldwide using a style now called "modern Mexican." Tickets are $295 for the black tie event, with more information available by calling 314-539-5472 or emailing foundation@stlcc.edu.
