No joke St. Louis has been chosen to host a premiere of "The Other Guys" with stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg this Thursday, Aug. 5, at Wehrenberg's Galaxy theater in Chesterfield.
The Gateway City outpolled 19 other towns for the right to host what's being called "The Other Premiere."
The buddy-cop comedy is set in New York, so the Big Apple gets the first bite, on Aug. 4. But the next day, Will and Mark will jet to St. Louis and walk the red carpet for local fans.
The stars will arrive by 6:30 p.m., and the movie wil screen at 7; but savvy fans should get there earlier. There will be a numerous other celebrities on hand and a limited number of on-site ticket giveaways.
"In the Other Guys," directed by Adam McKay ("Anchorman"), Ferrell and Wahlberg play Manhattan lawmen stuck in the shadows of their glamorous peers. So producers figured it would be fitting to stage a premiere party in a city that doesn't always get the spotlight. (Of course, that was before we got a late-July visit from Zac Efron, who must have put in a good word for us.)
The winning city was chosen through a poll on Facebook, where St. Louis beat out larger cities like Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, Atlanta and Dallas.
Take a bow, St. Louis. Now go out and get a new outfit.
