The lights have been turned off at two Delmar Loop venues.
Long-running 609 Lounge and its accompanying Hiro Sushi & Modern Izakaya, both at 609 Eastgate Ave., shut their doors over the weekend.
On his Facebook page, proprietor Bernie Lee posted it was time to move on.
“We will open a new chapter, at the start of 2013, in a better location downtown. It's a very bittersweet feeling. We want to thank all of our patrons, friends, and family, for the loyalty, love and support, without which we would not be where we are today. We have been blessed to have all of you in our lives. Through the good times, the bad times and the tough times, you all have been there for us. Thank you...Please come and be part of our last memories together at 609 w/good drinks, laughter, and a great time. Remember after all, whatever happens in 609, stays in 609! ;)."
The new space will be called Hiro Asian Kitchen.
Sauce magazine has revealed he will move into the shuttered Smash Bar at 1405 Washington Ave., in the heart of downtown’s nightlife district.
The old space, purchased by Washington University, will be demolished.
A few months ago, the Delmar Lounge, which was across the street from 609, also closed its doors.
