A headliner cancels but the show must go on.
Following a night of uncertainty when The Roots were forced to cancel their headlining slot tonight due to hurricane Irene, a healthy crowd has turned out and are enjoying some phenominal performances.
After locals Jon Hardy and the Public and Troubadour Dali warmed things up, San Francisco's Sleepy Sun turned in a solid set of psych rock.
Since then, the performances have been nothing short of stunning. Kings Go Forth's authentic Philly soul washed over a sun drenched crowd at 3 p.m. New England's DOM captivated the crowd with outstanding vocals and melodies and Florida's Surfer Blood rocked it out big time, bringing their beach vibe to a Middle West crowd who enjoyed coastal weather with, thankfully, no humidity.
But the story so far has been ?uestlove's DJ set. The Roots' drummer was a true pro, thanking the crowd for being understanding and then proceeding to blow their minds with a booty-shaking, beat-matching 60 minute set that covered "80 years of music."
