Has anybody else had Voles in their yard? Just this year I have learned about Carpenter Bees, Ladybugs, now Voles! Am I the only person that worries about them? The Voles have made many holes in my front yard and back yard both. I called exterminator who told me what they were. Not do harm are plant eating and since around foundation will not bother coming into house. Sure? I can't believe that last year I had Wolf Spiders that actually jumped on you. Ladybugs are doing the same. Only thing is to try to discourage them from continuing to ruin the yards. Has anyone else heard about Voles? Surely they are rare as I have not heard of them before. I know I am not sleeping and that these critters have just recently found my home. Everyone says Ladybugs do not harm but when there is a swarm they even try to get up your nose!

Please don't laugh about my dilemma, could happen to you. I sure hope not.

Calm down, spirit. The Voles can't hurt you.

Those aren't ladybugs either, they're Japanese beetles. They are swarming now looking for shelter from the cold. They'll be dead soon.

The Voles can be destructive, we once had to replace a concrete patio that had been so damaged from voles and chipmunks underneath it that it was cracking. You could try poison peanuts, but if you have outdoor pets I would stay away from those. Better be safe.

Pray for a cold winter to kill them off.

How awful! I sorry for the expense and aggravation you had! Was this something you knew they would do or did it surprise you too? That is exactly what the exterminator told me would happen to our front porch that it would sag or worse crack. I asked the exterminator for something that would kill them. Have to apply something called Talon for 3 times. I thank you for response and letting me know I am not only one that gets grief from them. AS they say, misery loves company.

I do have pets and I love them and would feel depressed if they got hold of this poison. Would be awful loss. That is why I am only going to treat the front yard. do you have pets and isn't the patio where they would get to?

thanks for your time. I guess I am upset about finding out about something called Voles. Must not be common else I would have heard someone mention them before.

NOT Japanese beetles...Asian (ladybug) beetles. Japanese beetles swarm in summer months and attack roses, coneflowers and last summer found them on our grape vines. Japanese beetles are about the size of a dime and are a coppery color.

And spirit, I'm sorry. But all I can think of is...it sucks to be you. Crimeny, but you've had some "stuff" happen around your house!

Are you being sarcastic or do you really 'feel sorry'? I always think could be worse that is why I write on this site. Someone always has similar or worse circumstance.

I often wonder if it is because I try to be natural and use 'green' products that attracts these pests?

Thanks for your understanding. Hope your life is better without any unwanted pests.

No, I'm seriously sorry. No sarcasm. When you wrote about the wolf spiders my skin crawled. The only spider I tolerate crawling on me out in the garden is a daddy-long-legs.

Thanks for clarifying the comment. I always feel people regard my complaints as trite and I am the only one who thinks differently. (Could be from having older brothers) Anyway I just feel thankful others regard what I say as worthy. Oh, my brothers never worried about having mice or bugs in the house. Only my mother and I thought differently.

Now to see how I do with Voles. Just so my front porch doesn't fall off after having iron railing recently put on. Would be hard to deal with if I could prevented it.

Thanks for your time and interest.

thanks this must be something only you are aware of as no one else suggested it. We are putting the poison in the holes but how do you know if they are alive or not? Exterminator said to put down every three four days when it doesn't rain. My brother who is older than I am has never even heard of Voles. He kept thinking I was talking about Moles.
