Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche
sports cars, Cayenne SUVs and the Panamera Gran Turismo in the United States,
today announced October sales in the U.S. up 15 percent compared to the same period last year. This marks the third consecutive month that PCNA has recorded an increase in year-over-year sales from 2008.

Also notable for October were sales of the German automaker`s mid-engine sports
cars, the Boxster and Cayman, a 77 percent increase over last year.

For the month, Porsche`s Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sales showed a 41 percent increase.

Another German automaker showed strong U.S. sales:

Audi today reported October sales in the U.S. of 7,358 luxury performance cars
and SUVs, a result that approached the all-time October record set by the brand a year earlier.

The latest full-month sales only trailed the 7,443 Audi vehicles sold in October 2008 following the introduction of the all-new Audi A4, and the 7,420 sold in October 2007, when the U.S. luxury car market was nearing its sales peak in the U.S.

National Geographic Channel has an interesting program featuring the Porsche factory. The engine plant turns out 500 per day and has a robot parts carrier that delivers engine parts just as they're needed in each assembly.
