Prop N passed in St. Louis. Surrounding municipalities will now likely fall like dominoes.

You happy or angry?

I get smokers' points about letting individual businesses decide, allowing the marketplace to do what the government shouldn't.

But I'm glad it passed. I will enjoy places much more now.

I will frequent more restaurants once this goes into effect since I have avoided all those that allow smoking for close to a year now. I think many businesses will be pleasantly surprised once they realize this will not be armageddon for their businesses.

It gives me more of a reason to eat at home more often, it'll be cheaper anyway.

Like, "they banned our smokes. What next, our booze? Our red meat?" I get that argument. I guess it doesn't scare me in this instance because it would be hard to get a majority to vote away vices that don't cause lung damage even to people who don't partake of them.

Smokers I know are used to walking outside the office, or the house, to blaze up. Illinois bars provide convenient places for smokers to step outside and take care of biz. I'm sure it will go the same here.

Plus, smokers smoke less when they have to travel to do it, and smoking less isn't going to kill anybody. Everybody wins, IMO.

I think there should be places for smokers and non-smokers alike, the preference of the host, and feel like liberty died a little bit more today. As if there's much hope for it anyway anymore in this country.

Rake, what about the employees? I bartended for years and probably smoked a hundred packs of second hand. And I never lit myself a cigarette in my life.

I could have gotten another job, if I was that concerned. But should smokers have been able to run me out of my workplace?

Make smoking illegal, you create a black market. Make smoking less convenient in public, you save lives.

No difference. It's using threat of force to push your wishes on others, on their property. I hate smoking, but I hate that worse. And it's incredibly selfish, so much so that I'd feel awful doing it, as much as I hate smoke.

Wow...I do not get you smokers. So you are telling me the only reason you eat out is to smoke??? Can you not get 1 hour without smoking. That is sad.
