Honestly, I've heard some different opinions here...
Would you be happy if the Cardinals spent like the Yankees do (from my figures, $70 million more than the next team) in an attempt to win championships?
Honestly, I say no. And I know some people won't believe me, but if you spend that much, you SHOULD win. No question about it. If you do, it's just what's expected...takes the excitement out of it, if you ask me. And if you don't, man, your team really screwed up.
Put some thought into this people, and let me know what you think.

Those people looked excited their team won the WS to me, and I would love if the Cards could spend like that!

I was a long time member of a musical organization that is like the Yankees, most world titles (13 now),we were the best of the best. We always knew that we deserved to be a champion because we played, rehearsed, ate, slept, :!:, etc like a champion, it is a champion mindset. With guys like Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Pettite on your team...that is championship leadership.

I know that you are speaking hypothetically, but no one mentions the fact that the seats at Yankee Stadium are so overpriced that Cards fans would never be able to afford to go to games. People complain about prices now. Can you imagine the crowds if seats were triple the price now?

MLB is a joke. To even consider that each spring, all teams have a chance to compete cannot be said with a straight face.
Hockey has it right. You have a salary cap and a salary minimum. Of course baseball would NEVER have the balls to stand against the Yankmees and Red Sux and players union to enforce this policy.

To teams like the Pirates & Royals it probably seems like the Cards also buy championships.

Not all the seats are that expensive, and if they win people will show up.

I'm not saying this because the Yankees won the World Series, but there really, really needs to be a salary cap and salary floor.
All the money that the Yanks and Sox pay in Luxury Tax just lines the pockets of Jeffrey Loria, David Glass and the Pirates owners who keep salaries consistantly low.
