The Cardinals faded because El Hombre, Franklin and Holliday all finished less than optimally, and DeRosa was a shell of himself due to the wrist. Zero connection to clubhouse personalities at that point.
Haven't you read this thread? It's clearly because of Glaus.

If Glaus were considered that much of a distraction, TLR would have dropped him from the post-season roster including exempting access to the clubhouse, ala Greene and Kinney.

Tony hates distractions. That's why he requested such a low-profile batting coach.

Can't speak for the player perspective, but the player and the skipper did have a more than few terse back-and-forths...

I watched Glaus at one of the last games of the season and he appeared slovenly, lazy, and disinterested. He also seem to have an attitude. Something was wrong.

I don't recall any rumors about Glaus not being liked in the clubhouse and I wouldn't rely too much on said rumors by a poster or two claiming that.

Glaus wasnt the reason the Cards didnt advance in the playoffs. Glaus also didnt help the Cards advance either. As some posters stated Glaus looked lazy slovenly and though injured appeared to maintain that strike out swing. why TLR would have put Glaus on the playoff roster is behond me, but because he is a 12 mil vet i honestly saw it comming.
Biggest disappointment in the playoffs my man Holliday

Troy seems like a pretty nice, easy going guy and by all "official" accounts there we're never any reports of him being unpopular or a clubhouse distraction.
I for one would like to see him back, on a one year deal, instead of DF.

I remember hearing somewhere late in the season that a few of the players had asked Tony to not call up Troy Glaus because he's very unpopular in the clubhouse. Apparently his teammates weren't very fond of him throughout '08. Does anyone have a verified source for this or a link to an article?
I feel like the team's late-season slide into mediocrity might have coincided with Troy's call-up. Anyone notice that? Am I crazy?
I wonder if ownership should take Glaus' affect on the team into account before they consider bringing him back. Or maybe they should just take into account that he was awful after coming back this past season?
I wouldn't worry about it. He's not going to be back unless he agrees to a non guaranteed spring invite only.

That may be true with the Cards, but it's obvious that a player with his resume can command a lot more. He's still going to get guaranteed money, even if it's an incentive-laden contract.
