Mizzou and Nebraska have open dates on 9.3.11.

Get it done Mizzou.

Good article. I guess I was wrong. I guess the BCS teams really won't play Boise State. Unless the athletic director is lying, which I doubt.

This just goes to show that the BCS is not good. This kind of throws out that argument that the BCS "creates the best regular season in sports". No, the BCS encourages games like Auburn against Furman.

I think he should name drop.

Come out and say we offered the following teams a game on their turf and they declined.

Just hype, most teams have games scheduled in 2011 for that one specific date this "great offer" is for. Let Nebraska play them. They're no longer an elite program. Maybe they can do better than La Tech.

At first glance it looks like quite a few teams have an open date for 9.3.11.

I want a Big XII team to pick it up.

I think the notion of the regular season not allowing any stumbles at all has always been flawed. The emphasis on undefeated or more recently one loss only leads to more games against low level Div 1 teams that are willing to play Top 20 teams to fund their athletic programs. On the contrary, with the 12th game added that most often creates one more of these type of games, the non-conference season has become a very bland part of the regular season.

From the Dan Wetzel piece on Yahoo:

Quote

There can’t be any college fans left who don’t know how good Petersen’s team is. A game against Boise would bolster anyone’s home schedule. It would be a huge game. The television exposure would be invaluable.

Maybe Florida and Texas don’t need a game with Boise (they can ride non-conference cupcakes to the title game). A middle of the pack Big Ten or Big 12 team certainly does though. Boise’s program is more famous than all of them – the Broncos are on true national television seven times this season alone.

Can anyone think of a middle of the pack Big 12 team that often gets no TV exposure? I can. It has six columns on its campus.

Is that the same school that had 5 of its first 7 games this season on national television?

If MU would schedule Boise, I'd be the first in line to buy season tickets.

I don't want to buy tickets to see Furman, SE Missouri State and Bowling Green.

Boise State would be a nice non-conference game for Mizzou and maybe it would prepare them for the conference schedule unlike juggernauts like Furman, Nevada, and Bowling Green. Of course I also wouldn't mind seeing Mizzou schedule another BCS conference team for that open date. I would love to see a home and home with an Iowa, Arkansas, or Notre Dame but I don't see that happening.

I like your way of thinking.
