Come on, think about the Grapes of Wrath or to kill a mockingbird, The Train or the 39th parallel is about, then post.

"2001: A Space Odyssey" IS the greatest film ever made, like it or not, if you want to rank a film according to all past, present and future masterpiece works of art throughout human history in any category whether it be painting, music, writing, architecture, sculpture, etc.

It compares with any of them, and probably surpasses them all. No pun intended, the film is universal with the question of life and existence in the universe the central theme.

Can't tackle any bigger or greater theme than that and pull it off as intelligently, as apolitically, as "ahumanly", as clinically or as mesmerizingly as "2001" did.

Coming from a person who also loves "Beavis and Butthead Do America" and laughed his guts out watching YouTube clips of "Street Trash".

Christmas Vacation -- I've only watched it maybe 500 times and still laugh until I cry. Still has the one of the greatest lines every muttered in a movie "S...ters full"
