For those of you who are too uptight to recognize sarcasm (jackjohnson, love your music, not so much your posts)... take a chill pill.

Oh, and if a couple sarcastic tongue in cheek posts makes me a "terrible representation" of your alma mater, then I wonder what you think of all the stoner and drug dealers who I went to school with while I was representing the varsity baseball and soccer teams and gettting a 98% GPA my senior year. Yah, what a terrible representation!!!

JackieJ... take a joke... and transfer your son to chaminade!!

Bottom line this discussion was about the soccer teams. Don't take away from the kids that make both of the teams 2 of the best in the area.

I can take a joke and have dished out plenty in my day, but theres a certain line that shouldn't be crossed. Every school will have its bad apples, thats just a fact. All that matters is that you are a place where you feel comfortable. If I had a dollar for every trust fund daddys money joke I've heard about chaminade I could bring a 3rd world country out of poverty.

lets get back to soccer. after all, this is what this thread is all about.

Speaking of MCC awesome-ness... watching LeBron go head-to-head at MSG vs David Lee (CCP) and Larry Hughes (CBC)... (Paul Paradoski yet to be seen...)

Only question is who pays better, CCP & CBC or the Knicks? Wink

Try this approach. Just respect each school and soccer program for what it is. There is nothing sinister going on at any of these schools. And right now the MCC happens to be home to a great collection of soccer coaches and some parents want their kids to play for those coaches.

PS. Also almost all of these kids are catholic and their parents want them to go to catholic schools. Believe me that is as big a part of it as anything.

Good post LL
And, to those claiming that CCP is giving scholarships to their soccer players: heresay or CCP hatred. My son plays varsity at Chaminade and I'm not aware of any player receiving stipends or athletic scholarships. Is it possible? Certainly, just as it is at any private school. I prefer to deal in established fact rather than innuendo impugning any institution.

Do you actually think anyone would tell you if their son was illegally recruited or on a full ride athletic scholarship?

Just because you aren’t aware of it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. How does it make you feel that you are subsidizing the cheating?

Why don’t you ask the beloved Vader about this or is he too busy pushing pizza these days?

I may be going out on a limb here, but something tells me you have a "perceived" beef with Chaminade and/or Gauvain. All you do is spew unfounded vitriol. Perhaps your issues are self-induced. Your anger cannot be healthy.

I agree Jack,
Let's talk about soccer. Vianney is deserving in all accolades they receive. Chaminade likewise. As well, CBC, SLUH, St. Dominic's, St. Mary's, Mehlville, etc. and, to all other schools, private or public. All the boys deserve our applause for representing their schools and playing the game they love.

I despise cheaters. CCP cheats. Vader cheats just like Floyd Irons cheated. Pretty simple.

He does strike me as a very angry human being.

Poor guy.

Must be tough being the only perfect person in a world full of cheaters.

Chaminade doesnt "have the numbers" as CBC, SLUH, etc because the school is half the size!!! At least! My graduating class was 150 kids. And half of them were in the band, which we have one of the best in the area (I dont really care, but thats what I hear)...

How CCP stays competitive in football (good team this year), soccer (always one of the best in state), basketball (won state championship last year, favored to win this year), tennis (bunch of titles), swimming (always up there), water polo (ditto), etc is beyond me! Heck, we even won state in volleyball this year! We shouldn't be in the MCC, honestly, we are half the size of our opponents.

I wish i could make it to the SLUH game this Saturday but I'll be here in Columbia for the Mizzou game!

Imagine CCP in the ABC league... Ha!

How naive are you? It is called providing full athletic scholarships to the majority of your premier athletes. That is the only way you can compete in the non country club sports.

A little history lesson...CCP had no credible soccer, football nor basketball programs to speak of until a mere 10 years ago. A school that is almost 100 years old out of the blue magically creates competitive programs in these sports at one of the most expensive high schools in the city

The ABC league wouldn't allow you to enter because of your lack of ethics

I played in both the ABC and MCC... if anyone has insight on this, it would be me. I transferred from Priory to CCP, and was a big time player for both schools. If I was ever "recruited" it would have been for academics from Priory. That Priory class had kids from all over the place... but I guess recruiting and giving scholarships is only "unethical" if its for athletics, not academics.... right?

You dont think Chaminade being half the size of the other MCC schools is a disadvantage? Don't they all give out scholarships and recruit?

I think if you went to Chaminade you would know that Vianney is the school with the numbers disadvantage. The fact that they have to win state, or even their own conference by beating schools with twice as many kids is a joke. Chaminade is definately smaller than CBC, DeSmet, and SLUH, but come on.

1) I dont even include Vianney when I talk about MCC schools.

2) Um, Vianney has 600 kids in 4 classes... thats 150 per grade... Chaminade is SMALLER. My graduating class had 150 kids.

3) Check your facts before you get all abrasive.

Desmet has 281 kids per class.
CBC has 270 kids per class.
SLUH has 267 kids per class.
Vianney has 150 kids per class.
Chaminade has 132 kids per class.

Your post is wrong on so many accounts. Chaminade is the smallest school in the MCC, less than half the size of desmet, cbc, and sluh. Yet just as good or, in many cases, better in athletics. Give them credit.

You are going to inexplicably exclude Vianney from the MCC, and then tell me my post is wrong? Why exactly is it that you exclude Vianney? They are just as competitive in sports these days as Chaminade is. Why would you not include them?

And you orignally asked "don't they all give out scholarships and recruit?"

The answer to your question, which you meant to be rhetorical, is no.

Vianney is just as small as Chaminade, and doesn't recruit players.

Try telling me Brad Beal choosing Chaminade over Vianney had nothing to do with recruitment.

Either way, I am curious as to why you wouldn't include Vianney in the MCC discussion.

1) It was a joke. Everyone in the MCC hates Vianney... its an inside joke. They dont really belong. Each MCC schools has their "rival" schools, CBC vs Chaminade... SLUH vs DeSmet, etc etc, but we all have this in common: we all hate Vianney. Dont take my jokes so seriously.

2)You were very adamant in telling me that its unfair because Vianney is so much smaller than even Chaminade. I said you were wrong, showed you facts, and you turn the other way. Recognize, please, that you were wrong about the school sizes. Any way you slice it, CCP is even smaller than Vianney.

3) Why would Brad Beal want to go to Vianney? Why would anyone want to go to Vianney? haha. Vianney is basically South County, why are they even in the MCC? Ah, yes, they are Marianist, like DeSmet. None of the kids from Vianney hang out with kids from CBC, DeSmet, SLUH, CCP, etc. ALl those kids hang out with eachother and Vianney kids are left pimping up their 1996 Toyotas and hangout out in the ROnnies parking lot. They simply do not belong.

You graduated from Chaminade, eh? Nice to see that you think DeSmet is the other Marianist school in the MCC... What exactly did they teach you, anyway?
