The academics are so important! Kids can hear the message, even from tournament programs and coaches, but they won't believe it if the actions of their parents don't prove it. Sports can be such a fulfilling thing in a person's life but it's not always the golden ticket. Intelligence and hard work never go out of style!

Go Red Knights and Rooney we need to team up and preach this message to parents and student athletes.....I'm so happy that my daughter believes in academic success as well as being successful on the court, realizing that she has a greater chance at being a CEO than playing basketball forever.

Thanks for setting me straight on this, bballmom. I like the quote even if I did butcher it a bit. It might be time for the "home".

Returning to the Titled Topic:
Katye Nash of SJA has committed to Rockhurst College.
Katye will be joining fellow St Louisans, Freshmen Jamie Krull (IWA) & Bri Baldwin (St Chas W).
Katye was recruited by Elon College, San Jose St, as well as D-2 Pittsburgh & Emporia St.
All of the evaluations & contacts were done through play with the MO Valley Eclipse.
Will be interesting to watch a healthy Katye do battle down low in the MWAA as well as with SJA's highly competitive schedule.

OK, OK, I promise not to talke about Washington University all season long when this forum is for preps-related conversations, but this story is too good not to pass along.
Last night, the Division III Washington University Women's Team beat Division I Southern Illinois University Carbondale, 84-74. Pretty cool.

Hiflyn,
I don't think anyone with knowledge of girls team/individual sports would take it like that, the girls signing letters of intent for Softball such as those with the Chaos, Fusion, & Esprit, etc. receive their attention, evaluation, & contact through their Summer/NonSchool Teams, same for Volleyball (Team CYC, Rockwood Thunder, etc.), Field Hockey (AIM & Gateway), Soccer (Scott Gallagher, Lou Fusz, Vardar, Old Busch Clubs, etc), and even many of the individual sports such as Golf & Tennis, are judged most strongly on results of higher profile games/tournaments v. evaluation & recommendation from a High School Coach or Game. The majority of Division 1 & 2 Schools realize that the Select Teams have superior coaching & training, as well as playing stronger & more focused competition.

then why would these better players play high school sports. That makes high school sports and all the coach's just a big joke. I really think you need to correct yourself. high school means more than any select or club team.

You are comparing apples & oranges.
This is not about HS Athletics or HS Coaches.
This is about a very small percentage of players who are signing Division 1 or 2 Letter's of Intent to receive a College Education of great financial value, coached by & playing for individuals who are paid on a full-time basis (most of the time) for winning, and if they are not successful they are replaced.
This has nothing to do with representing your High School or the reason's players play athletics.
While HS may mean more to you, it does not to College Coaches, just a fact. Again, you are comparing apples & oranges.
And remember, there are isolated cases where athletes decline to represent their HS instead choosing to play for or train with their club teams, including last year when a SB Pitcher from the Metro East chose her club team v. her HS, as well as in previous years Swimmers from both Parkway South & one of the St Charles County HS's.
