Post subject: Ghetto cruise- Mammer Jammers to Crown Candy

Ever since I heard about Mammer Jammers "hottest sandwich in st. louis" i've been itching to go. So today figured i'd go grab the hottest sandwich in st. louis and cruise down natty bridge to crown candy.
Mammer Jammers was pretty cool. Mainly a takeout spot but there is a table or two. The degrees of hotness on a mammer jammer are reg, mild, hot, xtra-hot, super-hot, mary francis, big john, and IT. I was planning on getting IT because i like to challenge myself on super hot food. I was asking her how hot it was and how i like to "feel a little pain" when it comes to hot food. She then tells me they have another degree of hotness that's not even on the menu, called "IF YOU DARE". So I get one........
Wow, a really freakin hot sandwich. It was smothered in a blend of all types of peppers (fresh, flakes, powdered, you name it). I ate it all, it wasn't too bad but it gave me a helluva burn. Eyes watering uncontrollably, nose dripping, lips tingling, blood pressure raising. It got hotter as i ate it. It would also come in waves. Also the temperature of the sandwich made it even harder to eat because it was pretty hot. Every time i bit into it my mouth would engulf into flames. Definitely will be back with some friends that also love insanely hot food.
After that we cruised down to crown candy and i had a chocolate banana malt. Orgasmic. It definitely helped washing that sandwich down, my lips were still tingling while i was waiting in line. Will be back to try some candy next time. All in all it was a pretty good day.

I love hot food, but not for heat's sake.
Thai, Indian and hot wings are the only three "food groups" that merit me burning my tongue off.
What was on the sandwich other than peppers?

CRAZY - I ate there one time and got the mild. Never will go back. Eating and having my (
burn are two things I dont want to go together. Now Crown Candy is the real deal.

It's a cheesesteak sandwich with grilled hot peppers and hot sauce.

curious how everything came out !!
Crown is nostagia on steroids....BLT & a malted...takes you to a time when being together meant something, and the chocolate beats any flowers for the wife....now they are going surfing, you will be able to order on line very soon, just in time for the holidays....wonder how those malteds will travel?

Well it sure wasn't a tip-toe through the tulips.

The bread was a hoagie, and it was like a steak um with peppers, onions, cheese spread, and they are kinda in a gravy sauce. It's nice and sloppy. Also for everyones information the second burn later that night was brutal.

I used to go to Mammer Jammer when it was next to SLU in the 90s, and always got the hot. That was one good sandwich. Now I want one.
