Lars Eller has made a huge impact to this teams' offensive depth. If you add McDonald, there might not be a very large need for a scorer anymore judging the way the blues like to "build from within". The only reasons I say this is because they would have to take away from there current roster to add that player. I'm also talking in terms of when Steen returns to the lineup as well. This also, however, may force a trade if Eller remains up here.

What the Blues could do is this:

1. Send Winchester/Weaver through Waivers.

2. Make a blockbuster trade. (This would have to include a scorer/enforcer, a defense package and some pick(s)).

Personally I would like the second option and see them go after an Eric Staal or Ilya Kovalchuk or someone of that caliber but that may not happen.

This kind of trade would have to be something like:
Winchester, Boyes, Colaiacovo, Draft Pick.

I don't want to see Boyes go if he doesn't have to go because he's relatively cheap considering how many points he puts up per year.

I am not against a trade like this, but that doesn't get it done for Kovalchuk. Winchester has almost no value, Cola has pretty little value, and it's not a secret that Boyes is one-dimensional.

It's been discussed a ton, but i'd say send Boyes+Winchester to Pitt for Staal. Move Backes back to wing and go with Staal and Berglund as top 2 centers. Boyes will never produce here what he would in Pitt and Jordan gets the chance he won't ever get in Pitt. Plus now Eller has a spot.

Eller-Berglund-Kariya
McDonald-Staal-Backes/Perron
Oshie-Tkachuk-Perron/Backes
Steen-McClement-Crombeen

You seriously think you can get Stahl for Boyes and Winchester??
I'm all for it, but ask yourself this - if you were on the other side - would you do it? I wouldn't even discuss it.

I guess we'll find out soon enough cos JR has just tweeted that McDonald and Jackman are expected to play today against Atlanta.

Where does that leave Eller as he was bought up under emergency conditions?

Janssen probably will be a healthy scratch I would think.

Darren Pang said last night the Blues can update Eller's recall from emergency to regular at any time.

I'd say it's a given that Lars gets sent back to Peoria. I don't think the management would risk losing an asset when they don't have to (even Winnie). All Eller has to do is wait for a trade to be made, or the inevitable injury to clear a roster spot.

BTW, I agree with everyone else that he has sparked the team. Kid has some good skills AND cajones. I can't wait until he is a permenant fixture with the Blues. It's just safe to send him down for now.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but it'd be a shame if this were management's thought process. There's a reason why they stockpiled talent and veterans in Peoria - to make room for guys like Eller should they need him, and to keep Eller if he impresses. The Blues have been playing it "safe" for too long now, and our record shows that it's not working. Is it a coincidence that once Eller is in the lineup, we break out of our goal scoring funk and the team gets 2 points in 2 games?

To reap rewards you must take risks - this is a risk worth taking, IMO.

Eller has looked solid in both games, but two goals in two games still looks like a "goal scoring funk" to me.

Okay, then "goal scoring drought"..better? The fact is that Eller's been on the ice for both of the Blues' goals. He scored one (yeah yeah, off his shoulder), and screened the goalie for the other. Heck yes, we're still in a funk, but without Eller, we'd still be in the drought.

Eller has all the tools, he has to stay in the lineup.

All of you that are whining about Boyes, need to take a breath and look at what's going on... andy murray is why Brad isn't scoring... Boyes is trying to no longer be a one dimensional player as per his coaches orders... If andy would let up and let the players be who they are, Boyes would start scoring again.

To keep Eller this team needs a camectomy !!!
Not sure why you all want to send Winchester down and risk losing him, he actually has some game... Send cammer down and I guarantee you NOBODY will claim him !

Also with Jax coming back and JD saying Polak is "ok" it's time to say bye-bye to Weaver...

I'll agree with you on Weaver, he is not needed any longer.

I also agree with you on Winnie, although he hasn't shown it this year yet, but, then again, not many of our guys have.

Disagree about Cam. He has his role.

Really disagree about AM holding boyes down. Boyes had ample PP time and came up goose eggs once again. Boyes is whatis holding Boyes down. AM let him shoot in the SO didn't he? Nice goal too.

Very good point about losing a player when you don't have to. I am sure management is always feeling out for trades, so keep as many chips as you can until you pull the trigger.

Actually, I've heard that Jordan Staal (The Pitsuburgh Staal, not the Carolina one) is having trouble playing the wing, where they'd really like him beside either Crosby or Malkin. I think J. Staal and Boyes make about the same salary, too.

It's not TOO unrealistic, although I still doubt it'll happen. I don't know if it'd really help US, though, since we have trouble scoring goals, and Staal is more of a two-way guy than a high-flying point scorer like Eric Staal (The Carolina Staal).

With King still on IR, they have the roster space for Eller, even with Jackman and McDonald coming off IR. All they had to do was change his recall status from "emergency" to regular.

Good to see Lars is still with the team, even with McDonald returning today.
