Your costs are higher in the early years, but lower over the life of the car. The concept applies to health care costs too.

Once again I tell that the payee will remain the same one. The tax payer. Until businesses are motivated, prodded into motivation to start hiring and retaining people nothing will change. No one wants to see the govt restart the old WPA and CCC programs from the Great Depression. However, at least $300-400B could be cut from the Defense budget and used elsewhere.


Why are liberals always eager to cut defense? They can't seem to find any wasted money elsewhere in any program, but defense.

Why do we even bother having a military of any size? After all, it's a waste spending money on defense, when the same money could be used to start up more social programs for the needy... Besides, we will be showing the world we are not a belligerant nation if we gut our military. They will know that we intend them no ill will

Rumblefish,

I believe the 3% is anualized. So for the liberals who are mathematically challenged, that comes out somewhere south of 0.75% for the quarter. It's better than nothing, but not a 3% bump in one quarter.

I do! With some updates, the government stepping forward as employer of last resort would be a great idea, and I hope the administration very seriously considers it.

Although it's less costly for the government to mail unemployment checks than it is to run a jobs program, there are some big advantages of a jobs program. Such as keeping the resume current, and self-respect. Plus there's plenty of work that needs to be done.
