Don't let reality intrude on your wet dream.

The players and staff are trying hard. The program is clean. The recruiting continues to improve. Young and inconsistent may well become seasoned with a killer instinct.

We've become so spoiled, so fast.

Look around at the four (and more) loss teams...

FSU - how can this be? coordinators are studs, right?
Wake - one of the best coaches, in a weak conference
Michigan - how can this be, ever?
Michigan State - great young coach, rising program?
Illinois - with all that talent
OU - how can this be? QB hurt? oh...
KU - with Reesing, Meier and Briscoe back?
UCLA - enough talent within 50 miles to win 10 games
Arkansas - GP beat a better Hog team in Dallas
Tennessee - no offense to speak of, putrid execution
Georgia - top 10 recruiting class every year
South Carolina - whom GP outcoached in Shreveport

Let's see how the movie ends.

It's time to change reels.

Are you actually advocating a mid-season coaching change?

Think Brian Kelly would live Cinci to finish the season in Columbia?

Get a grip. Pinkel is behind only Devine and Faurot, all-time at MU. Let's see how the season ends.

Our secondary is fast and athletic but they do not seem to be "smart" players. That can be from a lack of coaching, but I doubt it. When Gettis is our top DB and is getting beat like a drum, I think that it is a player issue and not a coaching issue.
The secondary is going to be the last position that makes a stride as I think that it is the hardest position to play other than QB and it is the hardest to recruit. I think that in two or three classes MU will have a secondary that will help the team instead of being a liability.

Gettis is good enough to start at CB in the Big XII as a true freshman and is able to hold his own, but now, after a few years in the program, he is getting torched. Hmmm, sorta sounds like coaching (or scheme) to me.

One, Gettis didn't start as a true freshman. He got a lot of minutes, but no he didn't start.

Two, Gettis has been hands down the best corner on the team this year, and the only game he has been beaten was Texas. He is consistently in single coverage against the oppositions best receiver, and the secondary hadn't given up a big play like they did to Baylor all year so maybe you should step back from the ledge.

Do i think playing single coverage 10 yards off the guy is working right now? No, it didn't against Baylor, the threw screens and sweeps all day. Then beat a young corner over the top twice (Robert Steeples). Incase you weren't aware, Gettis and Simmons didn't play the entire second half against Baylor. So maybe you might want to know what your talking about next time.

Also, even if you were right about Carl, your point is stupid. The guy wasn't a CB coming in as a true freshman, we turned him into one. The coaching did that. Look back over the years, anytime the Defensive staff has had predominantly upperclassmen on the roster (excluding last years debacle in schmes) the defense has been stout, with lesser talent than the majority of the players on this team.

None of this matters though, Pinkel isn't near the hot seat, except with you guys.

Smile NEVER, under the Pinkel, has MIzzou had a defense that we could be proud of, or that could perform at an average level. NEVER! The defense has been terrible every year. You don't beat good teams with a horrific defense, and as we just saw you don't even beat terrible teams like Baylor either! Baylor puts up 40 points and the coaches, as usual, just hoped we would out score them. Idea Pinkel does NOT UNDERSTAND how to coach or bring in coaches who can fix our perrennial problem on "D". It's time to find a coach who does understand and fixes the problem.

I really hope this is a tongue-in-cheek statement. I mean no one can be dumb enough to use "never" on an online forum. Especially when we had a top 20 that i can name off the cuff. And a top 3 in the Big 12.

Rolling Eyes It's clueless idiots like you who keep defending the defensless that keep the pressure off Mizzou to make necessary changes to the program. And, what a joke you are to cite Mizzou's ranking in the BIG 12. Defense in the Big 12 is a joke.
This program has made zero progress in the past few years and Pinkel needs to go!!!! People who know football realize the defense is horrid, and if Baylor's 40 didn't convince you, then you are not in that group!

Oh, if we're "lucky" it probably ends in Shreveport, GP's favorite post season destination. I'm sure you've bought a condo there by now, Moe. Wink

In the 25 years before Pinkel arrived, we beat OU and UT a total of 4 times in 29 attempts. Average score was 33-13. Pct = .138.

OU and UT, overall, since 2001, are 177-34. Pct = .839.

I graduated in spring of 83. We played Steve Young and BYU in San Diego after that fall's season. Next bowl was 14 years later, in Uncle Larry's last hurrah (and head-fake) in 1997-1998.

5 bowls in 8 years under GP.

Pinkel 64-45, .587
Smith 33-46-1, .419
Stull 15-38-2, .291
Woody 12-31-1, .284

I like how we do it, and I look forward to where we are going. No apologies. BTW, Alabama played 3x in Shreveport this decade.

How many coaches have they had in this decade? Seems like a trip to Shreveport in mid-December, unlike yours, is not their idea of a good time. Do you have a seat with your name on it at Appleby's in Shreveport?
