Talk about sad.
Is St. Mary's the only all boys school in the AAA? & have problems making .500 every year.

Just curious, Ned - what difference would being the only all boys school make? That has no effect on the quality of a football team (except maybe motivation, with no girls around to watch...).

Mary's had an excellent year. What was their conference record this year? You can't compare them to other teams in this conference and then use their season record. Use their conference record:

Final AAA Standings

Cardinal Ritter 6-0
St. Mary's 5-1
Trinity 4-2
St. Dominic 3-3
Lutheran SC 1-5
Kennedy 1-5
DuBourg 1-5

I know plenty of kids who use girls watching as motivation! Laughing

Conference record doesn't get you in the playoffs. Top to bottom AAA is the worst conference in the area.

What do you mean it doesn't get you in the playoffs? Everyone gets in the playoffs, and your total record counts. And if you don't like the conference, don't comment on it, or send your kid to a different school.

No. That's called their dist. games.
A team can win their last 2 games after being 0-8 & make the playoffs.
Total record does NOT count.

Most people consider District Playoffs to be just that -- PLAYOFFS. Teams can schedule their one non-conference game against tougher apponnents if they want, and if they feel the conference is too easy for them, they can always leave the conference.

They are Dist. games to get the teams into the playoffs.
Any team that wins their last 2 or 3 games & make the playoffs, is a joke.
Teams that are .500 shouldn't even be there.

If there was a balanced regular season schedule, your position would carry some weight. However, you fail to realize that several teams throughout the state play in conferences that have teams ranging from 700 +/- students to 2,000+. Look at the GAC, for example. Teams like St. Charles High, St. Charles West and Duchesne have to play schools that are two classes above them. Even in the AAA you have teams playing schools that are not in the same class. As a result, you can have a .500 teams that deserves to be in the playoffs. They may have only lost to teams that are twice their size. Those 3 District games are a true representation of how they stack up against schools their own size.

That being said, I have argued that MSHSAA should require that no school can play a school that is more than 1 class size difference in football. I could be swayed to make that 2 class sizes but 1 would be best. If the argument for the class sizes is to level the playing field and safety, why is it allowed during the "regular season?" Using the GAC as an example, it is idiotic to watch teams like Timberland, Holt and FZW, crush teams like St. Charles High, St. Charles West and Duchesne. Who gains anything from these blowouts? This would require a complete rethinking and retooling of conferences. So what? Some of these conferences are loooooong overdue for some rethinking and retooling.

Ned, I don't want to judge your reading comprehension, but you do realize that a thread titled AAA Football would be about the AAA Conference's football season right? We don't care how you compare this conference to other conferences. We enjoy it, and thus are comparing the teams within the conference. I think everyone realizes that these teams can't compete in classes 5 and 6. So you can stop trying to knock us down a peg, we're already there.

Not saying I'm a Harvard grad.. But if you go back, I ask if St. Mary's was the only all boys school in the AAA. And why they are always .500 every season.
