Hitchens should have fun at Ball State with Patrice King from STJ. I LOVE orange & it killed me last year when they knocked the Vols out of the first round, ugh!

Obviously you remember that Ball State’s womens team burst on the scene last season when they upset Pat Summitt’s Tennessee team (71-55) in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Head coach Kelly Packard’s first season at Ball State was memorable to say the least as her team posted a 26-9 record and a RPI of 45. Packard also was selected as the 2009 Rookie Coach of the Year by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
I would say Jaz made a good pick.
Also the local flavor probably helped with both Suzanne Grossnickle (Belleville East, 2008) and Partrice King (St. Joseph’s Academy, 2008) already at Ball State.

I came across information regarding Whitney M. Young Magnet (IL) girls basketball team that they are scheduled to play in the MLK tournament (Monday, Jan. 18, 2010) in St. Louis. Does anyone know who locally is playing in this tournament. Sounds like a game I would want to watch especially with what Whitney Young will be bringing. I see where the PG for Whitney a Junior, Chanise Jenkins is very highly rated (Grade: 94 by Scout Inc.) even if she is only 5'-4". They also have Janae Thompson, Sophmore, a top 100 prospect. These Chicago schools can always bring it.

Congrats on the verbals. Always good to hear about
girls from our area being rewarded for their success.
I'm sure there will be several more by Nov, when the early signing period hits.
I was able to see the Whitney Young team over the summer. They are real nice. The guards are fast and man they can, SHOOT IT. Hope they play some good STL competition. I would hate to see them come here and mop the floor against some of our lesser talented teams.
