WPS free agency has begun. Who do you think the Athletica should sign? I would like them to pursue Tiffany Weimer of the FC Gold who could add some much needed punch in the attacking third. Should they resign Daniela? Christiane is also a free agent. Any chance of getting her here with Daniela (if they resign her) and Jorge?

Daniella's injury should be healed by now.

Well, Weimer just signed with Boston, so my wish for the Athletica to go after her is gone.

Out of players who played last year that are currently free agents, a lot of the best ones are the players Athletica had to begin with.
I'd rate them as follows...
Forwards:
1) Cristiane
2) Han Duan
3) Sarah Walsh
4) Christie Welsh
5) Niki Cross (if she doesn't move back to defense)
Midfielders:
1) Formiga
2) Daniela
3) Leslie Osborne
4) Aly Wagner
5) Carli Lloyd
6) Kelly Parker
7) Collette McCallum
8 McCall Zerboni
Defenders:
1) Heather Mitts
2) Nancy Goffi
3) Melissa Tancredi
4) Marisa Abegg
Athletica has
Goalkeepers (2)-Solo, Loyden
Defenders (4)-Ellertson, McNeill, Weber, Logterman
Midfielders (3)-Chalupny, Fletcher, Woznuk
Forwards (1)-Aluko
Athletica doesn't need a keeper. They could probably use another defender, preferably an experienced one, but there's slim pickings there.
What they need most is an attacking midfielder or forward. They do have the rights to Edlund, but we don't know if they will be able to sign her. Cristiane would be attractive, but they probably don't want to spend the money and couldn't compete with LA or Chicago. After last year's experience, I don't know if Formiga wants to come back. I thought they should have re-signed Daniela. She may not be ready at the start of the season, but still I would have. Possibly Wagner or Osborne, but again, I don't think they would want to put out the money.
Their problem is scoring and with the exception of Aluko, the rest of the scoring are now gone or free agents (Cinalli 2 goals, Welsh 3, Cross 1, Hanks 1, Daniela 2). Only the Red Stars will potentially lose this much of their offense and then mostly because of two players (Cristiane and Lloyd). I don't understand not protecting Cinalli or not signing Daniela or Walsh. Those were potentially your three best options for scoring outside of Aluko. I also would like to see Cross more to see what she could do, maybe not as a starter, but maybe as a 3rd forward.

The biggest problem is FANS. We need to get more of the soccer community behind this team. Right now, this is all we have and we need to support this team.

Totally laugh when people are discussing the FA's that Athletica can sign.
This just in...the league will have a major announcement in the next week about the future. Don't say I told you so.......

Aluko is the laziest and worst forward I have ever seen. She loses possession 8 out of 10 times and then walks, is always late checking for the ball, and never prevents opponents from switching the ball along the backline. Athletica would be way better off with any upper level D1 forward.

Yeah, Wiemer showed flashes of razzle/dazzle and was even called a Mini Marta but WHY is Cristiane a free agent???
WHY didn't Chicago lock up Cristiane?? She's one of the top 3 or 4 players in the league!
Sign Cristiane NOW!!

LOL! Nuff said??!?? You didn't say ANYTHING!
What evidence do you have the league is on the decline?? Just the opposite. They have 2 new teams and thousands of tickets already sold there.
You said take a look at next season. WHAT about next season??!? Bring some facts to the table and not a bunch of gibberish!
