At least according to two polls that are components of the BCS Computer Rankings. It's mostly because of the strength of opponents. SEC plays wimps, PAC 10 does not.

Sagarin is the worst computer system by far. Even the RPI which uses FCS schools in their rankings is better than Sagarin.

In '07 West Virginia played 8 bowl teams and USC only played 4 teams with a winning record all year yet Sagarin had USC's SOS higher than WVU. Every other computer system had West Virginia's higher.

The Pac-10 has the worst OOC record (67-41) since '06. They're doing better this year though. If you want to talk about a conference being better than the SEC then the only comparable conference is the Big East.

The Big East had the best record against BCS conferences between '06-08 with a .551 winning percentage. They had the second best OOC record overall with a 102-35 record. They also have the best bowl record over the last 3 years with a 12-4 record. And they're 3-1 in BCS bowl games with wins over Georgia, Wake Forest and Oklahoma.

The Pac-10 gets help in the computer polls because they play 9 conference games apiece. That boosts their SOS's. Still Sagarin is a fraud when it comes to his SOS numbers. I've found many things wrong with his system.

Furthermore, the Pac-10 had 5 of it's 10 teams finish with a losing record last year. That's unheard of and really embarrassing. They went 2-6 against the MWC including losses to New Mexico and UNLV. Their 5th place team Arizona was the team who lost to 4-8 New Mexico.

Like I said, the computer systems reward the Pac-10 too much because they play more conference games than any other conference. And they get more rewarded for losing a game to a good team than a team would get for beating a mediocre team.

Honestly the records speak for themselves. The Pac-10 has the worst OOC record of any conference since '06. This is not a good conference.

That's how I'd rank the conferences based on a 4 year review.

Alabama lost to UL-Monroe a couple seasons ago.
Tennessee lost to Wyoming last year.
Arkansas barely survived UL-Monroe last year 28-27.
Mississippi St. lost to Louisiana Tech last year.
Vanderbilt lost to Army this year.

The SEC has a lot of really bad losses in recent years.

They've done well in the National Championships. But lets be real. The system is ridiculous. There should be a playoff that lets more than just 2 teams play for the Championship. Louisville and Michigan had resumes very similar to Florida in '06 and didn't get a chance to play for the title.

The SEC is only .500 in games against BCS conferences between '06-08. That ranks behind the Big East and Big 10. It's tied with the Pac-10 for third.

They have a 19-7 bowl record since '06 which places third. The Big East has the best at 12-4 and the Pac-10 is second with a 12-5 record.

The SEC and Big East have by far the best OOC records in the regular season since '06 though. No other conference comes close there.

The SEC is head and shoulders the best. Yeah, some of their lower teams had some bad losses last year.
Wyoming couldnt touch Tennessee this year.

Tennessee's out of conference schedule this year was Ohio, Ucla, and Memphis, not upper echelon, but not wimpy either.
Championships make the rest of the college football world hate us. Physical play makes them respect us.
NO matter if you love or hate us, you will always have to make comparisons to the SEC when trying to find out who is the best.
If im not mistaken, the BIG XII is 0 - 3 against the Mountain West THIS year. How about that.

One loss every year in the Pac - 10 would be three losses every year in the SEC. SC is afraid of Meyer and the boys.
