One of the worst ideas I've heard in a long time...

Too old. Take the protection of that Yankee's lineup away from him, and you're likely to see a huge dip.

I'm actually concerned that since the Cardinals are very unlikely to pay for Holliday or Bay, that they might settle for someone like Damon or someone else on that level. I hope not.

Nady will miss most of 2010 with Tommy John surgery. I prefer Bobby Abreu for the two-hole.
Nady is going to be ready to go in ST, when he had his TJ in June he was projected out like a pitcher not position player.

To bat second in front of Albert and play leftfield.
The man has no arm, how deep do they play in left at St. Louis?

According to MLB.com, Nady was slated to miss 12 months after July surgery. He may be back early, but I don't see how he would be ready for spring training.

Tyler Kepner the Yankees beat writer for the New York Times said at the start of the playoffs Nady would be ready for ST, and will be cleared to start throwing again at end of November or start of December.

Damon's age is a drawback and he doesn't replace the power of a Holliday/Bay type, but he does get on base and plays the game well. His arm is poorer than this past year's LF's, but he does catch the baseball.

Do the Cards really need another player with a steroid past?
Don't we already have McGwire as the headlining Bearded Lady for the Spring Training Circus next year?
I like Damon, but he's past his prime in a big way.
That Yankee lineup hides his flaws in a big way; give me Abreu if possible any day.

Not a big fan of Damon.
However, if we can't land Bay or Holliday, I wouldn't mind seeing us bring in Bobby Abreu for a 1 year deal. Yes, he is getting old. Yes, he is limited defensively.
But he can still run. He can still take a walk. The most important thing is that he has a .404 lifetime OBP. No one is gonna protect Albert, but Abreu can get on base for him.
He's not the most exciting signing, but he would fill a need.
